Chapter 33
After giving samples at the testing facility, we had to wait three days for results.
Three days should fly by in no time.
But Carol and Lily couldn’t stay put they went completely wild, making themselves infamous in just three days.
They were all over town throwing around the Hartwell name and acting like they owned the place.
They demanded free presidential suites at Hartwell hotels, opened premium membership accounts at five–star restaurants using Grandpa’s name.
At the spa, they were spreading their whole “real vs fake heiress” story, swearing up and down that Carol was the real deal and Mom would be kicked out any day.
“It’s all BULLSHIT! Pearl IS our Hartwell heiress – stop listening to those ridiculous rumors p>
After hanging up on the forty–ninth gossip call, Grandpa was so pissed he turned off his phone completely.
But then Mom’s phone started ringing.
She put it on speaker, and we heard the confused voice of some mall manager.
“Mrs. Hartwell, we need to verify something with you. A mother and daughter came shopping today – dining, clothing, jewelry, total bill came to thre point eight million. They claimed to be Hartwells and told us to send the bill to your family…” The rightful source is.net
He didn’t even need to finish. We all knew exactly who it was.
Mom laughed coldly. “Never heard of them. Go collect from whoever actually bought the stuff. Don’t let every random person claim they’re Hartwells
After hanging up, Grandpa stroked his beard, fuming.
“Carol again! The results aren’t even in and she’s already scamming people using our name. She’s ruining the Hartwell reputation p>
“I say we just get a negative result and kick them out today. Why wait p>
Mom looked puzzled. “They’re being so bold – aren’t they worried about getting exposed p>
I was texting with our PR department, scanning through the latest updates.
“The investigation is making progress. We’ll have answers soon p>
But before we got those answers, Carol showed up at our door again.
She looked like a hot mess – clothes torn and dirty, no jacket even though it was late fall.
The second we opened the door, she pushed her way in, hands on her hips.
“Why didn’t you sign for the bill the mall sent over? Do you have any idea that because you refused to pay, they took back everything I bought AND called the cops on me p>
I raised an eyebrow. “You went on a shopping spree and expected us to pay for it? That’s rich p>
Carol’s eyes blazed with fury:
“I’m a Hartwell heiress! A few million is pocket change! Once the DNA results come out tomorrow, everything will be mine p>
“You’re not even his real daughter – believe me, you’ll be the first one I kick out p>
Before I could respond, Grandpa shouted:

“Enough nonsense! Pearl and Aria ARE my family – you’re not p>
Carol snorted. “Dad, just wait and see. I’m definitely your biological daughter p>
Just then her phone rang. Carol answered, and we immediately heard hysterical crying from the other end.
“Mom, get over here! Ryan Stone and his whole family are bullying me p>
Carol’s face changed instantly and she bolted for the door. “Hang in there, baby! Mommy’s coming p>
I stood there exchanging looks with Mom.
Ryan Stone – wasn’t that my fiancé from last month’s engagement?
