Tracy watched the flames die down. She didn’t say anything, nor did she take a look at the ruins of the room. The marble beneath her had long cracked due to the heat of the flames. As she stepped out of the room, she sent a bunch of fire wisps at the research vessels, burning down the entire space. Her last kindness to those innocent souls.
This time, however, the flames were determined to burn everything.
The scent of the smoke curled through the corridors of the labyrinth and chased after her. By the time she stepped past the corner, the smoke had clutched the back of her jacket like a stubborn child who refused to listen. However, Tracy didn’t pay attention to these tiny details. She was still trying to control her rage, which was slipping out of her grasp in the form of magical leaks.
She was afraid that if she didn’t control her rage, then she would certainly end up causing a lot of trouble. Not for her but for those who lived around this pack.
The last thing she wanted was another bunch of innocent deaths to fall on top of her head.
Tracy twisted to the left, but before she could take more than three steps, she stopped abruptly. She frowned and looked at the men who were huddled in a corner, which was neither too far nor too close to the wall. Dominic, Tao, Ajax, Laxus and Finn. All five men were glaring at one another as if someone had called their grandma names too ugly to fathom. Fear and anger continued to roll off their shoulders. As if they were going to launch a war any second now.

Finn was the first one to sense her presence as he flipped his head and turned to look at her. And before she knew it, the man was walking toward her with a determined look. She could sense that Finn was scared, but as he moved toward her, his pace was steady and calm as if he were not scared. But he was. She could sense it with just one look. Maybe she was really losing it.
“What happened? Why are you covered in soot?” he then looked behind her, and when he saw the smoke curling around in the corridor. Finn frowned before taking Tracy’s hand and pulling her away from the smoke that was getting thicker by the minute. “What just happened? Just what did you do? Are you hurt?”
He seemed like a nervous wreck as he continued to ask her questions.
“I am fine,” Tracy replied, feeling a bit uncomfortable with the amount of concern that Finn was showing to her. The man was not looking down at her, nor did he think that she was weak; he was just worried. Which was honestly weird because she had never received such a genuine concern before.
She allowed him to pull her along, mildly ambushed that he thought that this fire could hurt her when she had faced far worse than this in the past couple of centuries. With his arm around her waist, he continued to look behind them, convinced that he could protect her if the fire went out of control.
The group got up from the ground of the labyrinth and followed the two out. Fortunately, the labyrinth had shifted once again, which shortened their journey, for most of the magic was now being circulated in the burning hall. They reached the cars, which were parked haphazardly along the pavement of the warehouse. Veronica was the first to rush out as she shot a wary glance at Tracy; it was as if she was now aware of what she was.
Of course, she did; as the disciple of the Goddess of Love, she was bound to be much more sensitive than any human or shifter. She must have seen the soul escaping the array; her eyes saw things that no one else could see with their bare eyes in this group.

Martha and Jacob seemed to be hyperventilating. They had every reason to be, and yet Tracy felt nothing but calm in her heart.
Someone retched behind her, and Tracy paused in her stride to turn and look at the man behind her.

The man was doubled over behind the car and throwing the contents of his stomach on the patch of dry, yellowing grass.
Laxus seemed the least bit amused as he turned to look at Dominic and said to him, “Can’t you do something about this? This is the fifth time. He is supposed to be your beta; how can he be one with guts that small?”
Dominic paused in his pace. He turned and glared at the man before saying to him, “Well, sorry for not having ice in our veins.”
“You don’t? I thought you did with how you treated your mate, mate,” Ajax fired right back.
Tracy looked at the men who were now glaring at one another.
“What happened?”
“Nothing out of line,” Finn replied, but his voice was barely controlled, which stated otherwise.
Tracy rolled her eyes at him. “Just get on with it, dude. There is no need to be so mysterious. I know it has something to do with Inez.”
The man sighed. “Dominic is refusing to back down from his claim on Inez. He still insists that he is her mate and has every right to claim her, and that Kill has overstepped his boundaries by taking his mate under his wings. He is threatening a pack war.”
