“Then what’s with that attitude of yours?” The man raised the baton in his hand and placed it underneath Scarlet’s chin. “If you understand your situation, then step aside. Or else don’t blame me for what might happen to you.”
“Our crime hasn’t been proven yet,” Inez spoke up. Trying to minimise her presence but at the same time trying to make her voice heard was not an easy task, but she had to do it. She couldn’t hide behind her sister. Not when Scarlet’s safety was at risk because of her. Squeezing her hand to suppress the panic attack that was almost on the verge of breaking out, she said to the guard, “You–You cannot punish her without any evidence.”
The guard turned his attention to Inez, and his eyes flashed with a glint of carnality, and he took a step close to her.
Seeing this, Scarlet’s shoulders went tense. “Step back.” Tipping her chin at Inez, she continued, “You heard her; our crimes are not proven yet, and as a warden responsible for taking care of the prison, you do not have the right to punish us. It will do you some good if you leave us alone and let the specialists deal with this case.”
“Oh, so are you going to teach me how to do my job?” The guard stepped closer, snarling at Scarlet. “You sure have a lot of daring for someone locked up in a prison cell.” he raised one finger and jabbed Scarlet on her bosom. “Now listen to me closely, you bitch. Here I am the law, and you will follow what I tell you to do, got it? Now get the fuck off my face. I need to interrogate her.”
Scarlet didn’t budge, even when the baton was aimed at her throat. She couldn’t. Because she knew what the consequences would be if she allowed this guard to touch Inez. Scarlet had not the slightest inkling of how much control Inez had over her siren powers, but she knew that their mother had never allowed Inez to learn anything about her skills and control over her powers. If this man approached Inez, who knew—with the intentions that he had toward Inez, maybe something unkind might happen?
And given the desire that she was oozing from this half-blood, Scarlet knew that there was no ’maybe’.
“You bitch—”
Scarlet didn’t let the man attack her; the second he lifted the baton to hit her on the head, she smashed her head against his chin, sending the man staggering. “Get back!” She growled, raising the restraints in the air. “Don’t think that just because we are tied up, we can’t do anything. If you try anything, I swear I will fuck you over.”
“You fucking hoe.” The guard scrambled to his feet before raising his foot and kicking Scarlet in the stomach. He knew that if he dared to punch her, she would bust his head open with the restraints. Nursing his head, he yelled at her, “You think that you can get away after hurting me like this?”
“Scar!”
Inez screamed in terror when she saw Scarlet tumbling to the ground. She rushed toward her sister, but the guard reached out, curled his arm around her waist and pulled her back. “And where do you think you are going? Your sister hurt me like this; aren’t you going to do something about the injury that she gave me?”
“Stop touching me.” Inez struggled hard, feeling a sense of helplessness and terror washing over her.
The guard started laughing. His chest vibrated against her back as he chuckled at her words. “Do you think that I captured you to let you go?” The man leaned down and licked her neck, sending a jolt of disgust down her spine. Intensifying her fear.
Let me take over.
Inez frowned, not realising what Nerina was trying to do.
What can you even do in this situation?
Just give the control to me. I don’t have much control over my powers, but I can back this vampire off.
Inez hesitated, but realising that her siren was indeed correct, she closed her eyes and allowed her siren to take over. Her lips curled up ever so slightly, and when she felt the man’s hand reaching for her core, she whispered in a voice that wrapped around his mind like silk. “So eager.”
You are being way too eager. Don’t you think that you will regret rushing?
His grip suddenly faltered for a second, and the vampire who had been too eager to touch Inez suddenly stopped. He frowned and looked down at the woman in his arms. She had stopped struggling and was pliant, just like how he liked them, so why did he feel like it was better for him to wait rather than rushing things?
Just as he was struggling, the woman tilted her head and smiled at him with a hint of seduction. She spoke again, her voice honey smooth, “Don’t you think that it will make you even better if you make me beg for it?” Her voice slid between the two of them. Smooth, velvety soft. “You could take me now… but
Another voice erupted within the head of the vampire, duelling the desire that was surging within his body.
But… wouldn’t she taste better if she were begging him to take her?
His fangs slowly retracted as the desire within him—instead of fading—started to twist and tangle with a sudden urge to wait. His pride simply purred at the thought of making this woman kneel, get on her fours and open her legs for him. The thought alone was enough to send a rush of thrill within him.
He chuckled, stepping back an inch. The voice in his head made him believe that it was his idea to let this woman go. “You are clever, my girly.” He reached out and cupped her face before smooching her on the cheeks. “I will certainly enjoy bringing you to your knees.”
Nerina smiled faintly, lowering her eyes to hide the shimmer in them. She was glad that her first attempt at voice layering had worked, or else she and Inez would have been in real big trouble.
