Ryder had invited me to the pack to help sort out the Silverclaw issues and deal with the elders, which wasn’t unusual given the political mess that always seemed to crop up when two packs tried to merge. I wasn’t thrilled about dealing with the elders—those rigid, tradition-bound fossils could test anyone’s patience—but I was looking forward to seeing my sister, Jasmine.
