Chapter 387
Chapter 387:
I frowned, tightening my arms around myself. “What on earth are you talking about, Dad p>
He sighed and dragged a hand through his hair. “I failed in many ways, Jasmine. As a man, as a father, as a leader. But you have the chance to be better. To do far more. For that, you need to trust yourself — your instincts, your wolf, and the child growing inside you p>
The weight of his words settled heavily on my shoulders. But before I could respond, he motioned for me to follow.
“I need to show you something,” he said, his voice dropping low.
I hesitated, glancing sideways at Kade. He gave the faintest nod, though his eyes narrowed in a silent warning. Stay alert.
My father led me down a corridor I hadn’t walked in years — one that raised the hair on my arms and stirred memories I would have preferred to leave buried. The dim lighting threw long, strange shadows across the walls, and the air felt colder here, closer, as though the corridor itself were pressing in.
I knew this place. It was far too similar to where Jason had—

My steps faltered as a sudden wave of weakness swept through me, my breathing quickening before I could stop it. Layla stirred in my mind, but her presence was steady and grounding.

“Dad, why are we here?” I asked aloud, my voice unsteady despite my best efforts.
He didn’t answer. He simply kept walking until we reached the far end of the corridor, where a heavy wooden door rose before us, its surface scarred and worn with age.
“I can’t go in there,” I said, my feet rooting themselves to the floor.
He turned to face me, his expression unreadable. “You have to,” he said simply. “This isn’t about the past, Jasmine. This is about your future p>
His words were still echoing in my mind when the door swung open on its own, and a rush of cold air hit me, raising gooseflesh across every inch of my skin.
“Trust your instincts,” my father said, his voice low and urgent. “Trust your wolf. And above all, trust the child of the prophecy you carry p>
And then, before I could say a word, the door slammed shut behind me — cutting me off from both him and Kade.
The room was dark, save for the faint silver glow of moonlight filtering through a high, narrow window. My heart hammered against my ribs, my pulse thundering in my ears as my eyes swept the space around me.
“Dad?” I called out. Silence answered.
Layla snarled in my mind, every one of her senses snapping to full alert. “Stay on guard — we are not alone p>
