Chapter 20
Heidi proudly stepped out of the car, linking her arm with the man’s arm.
When they paused in front of the grand door, just before his hand reached the fingerprint
scanner, a voice stopped him.
“Mr. Howard, I suggest you don’t touch this door, or I’ll take you to court for stealing.”
He stared at the person before him in shock. It was Evie’s long-time lawyer; how was she
here?
“Attorney Harper, what are you saying? Can’t I go back to my own house now?”
As his words ended, Attorney Harper gave a cold laugh, making fun of him.
As his words ended, Attorney Harper gave a cold laugh, making fun of him.
“Mr. Howard has lived off others for too long. Did you forget that this villa is also Miss Russo’s
premarital property?”
These words instantly embarrassed him.
Everyone in Kansas only knew Ezra’s later success and respectfully called him Mr. Howard.
But only a few people were aware that this family house in the middle of Kansas also
belonged to Evie before marriage, and he didn’t spend any money on it.
All these years, to keep his pride and standing, no one dared speak of it, yet now it came out
so easily.
“Where is Evie? Why are you here?”
He switched the topic, as if trying to avoid the past.
Seeing this, Heidi became firm as well, speaking with a mocking voice.
“Evie, making a scene before wasn’t enough, and now you still want to act immature!”
“If you ask me, at your age, don’t play those childish tricks anymore!”
The lawyer looked at the two people before her, who didn’t understand anything, and only felt
it was very laughable.
She pulled out two things from her bag. At once, both of them went pale.
“Mr. Howard, this is your divorce paper, and it also shows I speak for my client to ask for
compensation from you.”
He stared at the divorce papers in shock. He paused for a second and didn’t reach out.
With a quick motion, the divorce papers were pushed hard into his arms.
“Mr. Howard, I remind you, if you don’t compensate on time, I’ll ask the court to force it.”
Another loud hit followed. A pile of papers struck Heidi’s face, and she asked with a flushed
face.
“What is this? You actually dare to hit me?!”
She picked up one page at random. The words court summons showed clearly before her,
and her eyes widened in fear.
“Evie, that woman actually dares to sue me!”
Attorney Harper curved her lips in a faint smile, stepped into the car, and as the car moved,
the window slid down.
A thick pile of documents hit Ezra.
“I forgot, I stand for my client, to bring a case against you for bigamy.”
“Miss Russo asks me to tell you both, a bitch and a bad man belong together forever.”
The car drove off again, leaving only the loud sound of the engine behind them.
The weather in Kansas changed fast, and suddenly heavy rain fell.
The rain soaked them through.
Heidi spoke in a pitiful way, “Ezra, you and she are already divorced, so can you marry me
now!”
“But that woman actually dares to sue me, you must help me release this anger!”
Suddenly, Ezra seemed to lose control, tore the divorce papers into pieces, and instantly
walked toward that Bentley, his steps quick.
Heidi walked behind him in eight-centimeter heels, calling out.
“Ezra, where do you go! Don’t walk so fast, I can’t follow!”
He did not even look at her.
“I go to find Evie. She must be mad, so she uses divorce to force me!”
When she heard this, Heidi felt panic rise. She stepped forward and tightly held his wrist.
“Ezra, she is the one who leaves you and doesn’t value you. Why do you still lower yourself to
look for her!”
“You say you will give me a home, so let’s marry. Don’t care about her!”
Her hopeful eyes met the man’s cold gaze, but what she received was only cold words.
“We agree, in this life only death can separate us. I cannot divorce her!”
Sadness filled her heart, but even more was refusal.
Why, even after divorce, did Evie still stay in his world?
She would never allow it!
