The phone rang twice.
No answer.
Then I remembered -Dad had picked me up so late last night, he was probably still sleeping it off at the hotel.

I stayed quiet and waited for the police to show up.
With this woman’s sharp tongue, she’d definitely twist whatever I said and spin even more outrageous versions of the story.
So I figured the best thing to do right now was keep my mouth shut.
But Quinn wasn’t done with me yet.
As I looked down, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my ear.

I touched my ear–my hand came away bloody.
