Her eyes immediately reddened, caught between crying and holding back, making her look pitiful and fragile.
She didn’t believe for a second that Baron could see her like this and not feel distressed-or moved.
But Baron didn’t even bother to speak. He simply swung his hand again, landing another slap across her face.
“Ah!”
The teacher’s body flew across the room.
Finn’s mom watched Baron’s move and suddenly felt that Natalie’s earlier reaction had actually been mild.
This family really does have violent tendencies, doesn’t it?
Instinctively, Finn’s mom stepped back several more paces.
Baron, however, didn’t care at all.
He clapped his hands, and when he turned to Natalie, the anger in his eyes instantly disappeared.
“Wife, the nuisance is gone. You can continue asking now.”
Natalie’s lips twitched.
She had always known Baron to be reckless, but for a grown man to slap a teacher in a kindergarten-well, that didn’t sound very good.
She realized her thoughts were drifting away from the point.
Squatting down, Natalie pulled Susie into her arms. Only then did she notice her daughter trembling, her body cold to the touch.
Natalie understood right away-Susie had been badly frightened.
She gently patted Susie’s back, her voice soft. “Sweetheart, it’s okay. We are both here. And I’m here too. No matter what happens, our family will always stand behind you. Tell me, did you really see Anna?”

“I really saw her. She said she had something good to share with me and took me to the art room next door. But after that, I can’t remember anything. The next thing I knew, Finn was on the ground in a pool of blood. Mommy, I didn’t mean it! I really didn’t! Waaaah!”
Susie was just a child. She couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst into tears.
Seeing her daughter cry made Natalie’s heart ache.
“Sweetheart, don’t cry, don’t cry. We’ll definitely get to the bottom of this.”
Natalie soothed her, but Susie was still terrified.
She was only four, and nothing like this had ever happened before.
How could she suddenly hurt another child like that?
Was this really her?
“Mommy, am I turning into some kind of monster? I don’t want that. Finn’s actually really nice to me. He buys me candy and even draws pictures for me. I never wanted to hurt him! Waaaah…”
The more Susie spoke, the more aggrieved she became.
She remembered doing nothing to Finn, but everyone said she had hurt him-even her brother said so.
Susie never doubted Sean’s words, and that was why she was afraid.
If she was really this dangerous, would she someday hurt Daddy, Mommy, or her brother too?
What would she do then?
Susie cried even harder.
Watching this, Finn’s mom felt uncertain.
“What kind of excuse is that? Don’t tell me your daughter has some kind of mental illness?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Finn’s mom realized how inappropriate they were. She quickly took two more steps back, nearly retreating right out of the room.
Natalie didn’t like what she’d just heard, but given the circumstances, she swallowed her

Baron, however, spoke in a low voice. “Susie, take Daddy to that art room you mentioned. And you-wife, take Sean and check the kindergarten surveillance. If the teacher says Anna didn’t come today, then the cameras won’t lie.”

Natalie stood up quickly, stroking Susie’s head. “Sweetheart, don’t be afraid. We’ll definitely uncover the truth.”
Finn’s mom actually wanted to leave. After all, her son was still in the hospital undergoing emergency treatment.
Although her mother-in-law had already gone to stay with Finn, and her husband had found the best surgeon, she had remained here only to demand answers from Susie’s parents. But now, she was thoroughly intimidated by Baron and Natalie.
She opened her mouth to speak, but Natalie raised her head first.
“Ma’am, is anyone with Finn?”
“Yes. My mother-in-law went with him, and my husband has already been notified. He’s found the best surgeon. I stayed here just to get some answers.”
Finn’s mom’s voice was barely above a whisper.
Natalie said, “If you’re willing, please stay and help us investigate what really happened.”
“I can, but you can’t just start hitting people again.”
Mustered by courage, Finn’s mom forced the words out.
Natalie nodded.
“Of course. I apologize for my reckless behavior earlier.”
“There’s no need. We’re both mothers-I can understand how you felt. It was my fault too. I shouldn’t have taken it out on a child.”
Finn’s mom looked a little embarrassed.
