Somehow, her son’s injury no longer felt like the biggest issue. What she wanted most now was to know what on earth was going on.
Natalie’s brows furrowed as she instinctively looked to Baron.
Baron believed the principal wasn’t lying. Besides, if there were fire records, the truth could easily be checked. Then how could this Anna reappear in the kindergarten? And judging from the teacher’s attitude, she clearly didn’t see anything unusual about Anna.
“Principal, I think it’s time to bring the teacher here and ask directly,” Baron said.
At this stage, the principal couldn’t refuse. She told the head of security to fetch the teacher.
Since being slapped earlier, the teacher hadn’t joined them in watching the footage. No one had really noticed where she’d gone.

“Thank you, Finn’s mom.”
Natalie understood what she was trying to say. In truth, she was worried as well.
Seeing her concern, Baron leaned close and said in a low voice, “I’ll take the kids for a checkup. You stay here for now. I’ll have Chris come and keep you company.”
“You’ll check them?” Natalie asked, surprised.
Baron realized he had slipped. He thought of telling her the truth–that he himself was the Witch Doctor–but with so many people around, he couldn’t risk exposure.

Baron would have preferred to stay by her side, but Susie’s condition was uncertain. She needed to be examined right away.
Besides, Natalie was smart. She wasn’t impulsive. As long as someone stayed with her, there shouldn’t be a problem.
“You have to be careful too,” he told her softly. “We don’t know where Anna is right now. If Chris hasn’t arrived, don’t wander off. Stay here and wait. If anything happens, call me. No matter what I’m doing, I’ll come immediately.”
His words warmed Natalie’s heart.
“I understand. Go on, take the kids. I can’t rest easy until I know they’re alright.”
She had never seen Susie so frightened.
Crouching down, she stroked her daughter’s hair gently. “Susie, don’t be scared. We’re here, everything will be okay. I’ll stay here to take care of things, and you go with Daddy for a checkup. As long as you’re healthy, we’ll make sure those who hurt you answer for it.”
Susie’s mood lifted a little.
At least it wasn’t her body failing her. Still, it hurt deeply that Anna–her very first friend in Ocean City–had betrayed her like this.
Sean, too, sensed the seriousness of the matter. He squeezed Susie’s hand and told Natalie, “Mommy, don’t worry. I’ll take care of her. But you be careful too. Anna may be small, but she can use poison and hypnosis. She’s dangerous.”
“I know. Thank you.”
Natalie pinched his nose affectionately, her eyes brimming with pride.
Seeing the red veins in Susie’s eyes, Baron dared not delay. He left quickly with the children. Finn’s mom, watching the way Baron and the children treated Natalie, couldn’t help but sigh
