Instinctively, Baron pulled Natalie into his arms, careful not to let any of his blood stain her clothes.

Before she could finish, Baron cupped the back of her head and silenced her with a fierce, punishing kiss.
Afraid of aggravating his wound, Natalie didn’t dare move too much and could only let him have his way. Still, his breath, warm and heavy against her lips, made her pulse race and her thoughts scatter.
When Shauna returned, she found the doctor standing outside the bedroom looking uneasy.
“Why are you standing out here instead of treating Mr. Baron’s wound?” she asked, puzzled.
The doctor’s face was complicated. “Shauna, it’s not that I don’t want to; it’s that going in right now would… get in the way.”
“What do you mean?”
Frowning, Shauna leaned toward the window to peek inside–and immediately jerked back.
“Oh my! Is Mr. Baron insane? He’s bleeding out, and he’s still kissing?”
She always knew Baron adored Natalie, but this was ridiculous. Couldn’t he at least stop long enough to get treated?
The doctor could only stand there awkwardly, waiting in silence.
Natalie nearly lost her breath under Baron’s kiss. Unable to take it anymore, she reached out and pinched the soft flesh at his waist, hard.
“Ow! That hurts!”
Baron wasn’t expecting it and immediately let go.

Natalie’s face was flushed, her eyes glazed with misty warmth that made Baron swallow hard.
“Baby…”
“Doctor,” she said sharply, her breathing uneven, “if you don’t come in and treat him right now, I’ll throw him out myself.”
She was angry–and with good reason.
Baron never seemed to know what mattered most. He’d been bleeding for so long; did he really think he was made of iron?
I forgave him way too easily.
Seeing that she was truly upset, Baron didn’t dare act up anymore. He sat obediently on the bed. “Okay, baby, I’ll behave. Don’t be mad.”
Natalie stood, glancing at him instinctively.
Baron moved slightly, reaching toward her, but when her eyes flicked over–sharp as a blade- he immediately straightened his posture like a chastised student.
Only after confirming he’d settled down did Natalie head toward the door and pull it open.
Shauna and the doctor, who had been eavesdropping outside, lost their balance and fell right into the room.
The doctor didn’t even dare to lift his head.
Shauna, on the other hand, gave Natalie an embarrassed grin. “Good evening, madam.”
Natalie’s mouth twitched.
She had always assumed Baron’s subordinates were all intimidating and stoic; now she saw they were just a bunch of gossip hounds.
Baron, seeing the two of them, felt utterly humiliated. “What are you, geckos? Want to go climb the walls next?”
Natalie didn’t bother listening to him scold them. “Doctor, hurry and treat his wound. Shauna, come eat with me.”
