“Witch Doctor, we’ll see you in Ocean City,” she said before rushing out with Clara.
Jensen’s body still ached terribly.
Given his current condition, it would’ve been better for him to rest a few more days before returning to Ocean City. But when he heard Natalie was going back for the product launch, there was no way he was going to miss it.
Hansel drove cautiously, afraid that even the smallest bump might jolt Jensen’s injuries.
Just then, two women burst onto the road, clutching a child. Hansel slammed on the brakes in fright.
The tires screeched harshly against the asphalt, the sound sharp enough to make Jensen’s stomach clench; he nearly lurched forward from the impact.
“What the heck happened?”
The sudden stop had jolted his wounds, sending a stab of pain through him that made his teeth grind; naturally, his temper flared.
Before Hansel could answer, Clara ran up to the car and started pounding on the window.
Jensen wanted to ignore her–people who stopped cars on the road like this could be anyone, maybe even dangerous.
He was about to tell Hansel to keep driving when he noticed the necklace in Clara’s hand.

Hansel didn’t understand but did as told.
As soon as the glass slid down, Clara burst into tears. “Mr. Jensen, please, you have to help us! We’re friends of Natalie’s. Someone’s trying to kill us. We have urgent news for her, but we can’t get to Ocean City. Please–take us there to find her!”

“You know me?” Jensen frowned, suspicion flickering in his voice.

Clara nodded quickly. “Ms. Stone told us that if we were ever in danger, we should bring this necklace to you and ask for help.”
Jensen froze for a second. Natalie said that? So, deep down, she still trusts me the most. That Baron’s nothing but useless trash.
Still, Jensen wasn’t the type to believe anyone easily.
He said quietly, “Anyone can claim to know Natalie. How do I know you’re not lying?”
Clara panicked and pulled out her phone, dialing Natalie’s number.
At that moment, Natalie was on her private jet when the call came through. Seeing the unfamiliar number, she hesitated, but after several persistent rings, she finally picked up.
“Hello?” she said cautiously.
Clara’s voice trembled as she cried, “Ms. Stone, it’s Clara! Beth and I are being hunted–we can’t make it back to Ocean City. We just ran into Mr. Jensen. Can he help us get there?”
Natalie froze.
She didn’t know anyone named Clara. But Ms. Beth … could that be Beth? Beth’s being hunted?
Natalie wasn’t stupid. Baron had just told her that once she’d rested, he’d take her to visit Beth in the hospital; now, all of a sudden, he wanted to rush back to Ocean City. Something must’ve gone wrong at the hospital.
Hearing Clara mention being hunted, Natalie quickly pieced things together.
Just then, Shauna approached with her phone, showing Natalie a message–one from Baron.
It read: “My dear, Clara is one of mine. Whatever she says, just agree to it.”
Seeing that, Natalie said, “Will Jensen help? Things between him and me aren’t what they used to be. Clara, if he won’t, go find Baron instead. Maybe Baron will protect you, since he’s now my-”
“I’ll help!” Jensen cut in immediately. “Natalie, if it’s for you, I’ll always help!”
There was no way he’d waste a chance to earn Natalie’s favor–especially not now.
Besides, he didn’t want to hear her finish that sentence about Baron.
