Chapter 100
Dahlia was scared out of her mind. Swallowing hard, she softened her voice and tried to reason with Evelyn. Her words trembled as they left her lips. Evelyn was known for having a soft spot. If Dahlia could just persuade Evelyn to let her go, she swore she wouldn’t let her off the hook later.
Evelyn wasn’t in the mood for chit-chat. Instead, she crouched down, slipping on a pair of gloves a bodyguard handed to her, and with a calmness that only fueled Dahlia’s terror, she reached into a cage and pulled out a snake.
Evelyn was as cool as a cucumber, while Dahlia’s face turned ghostly white, her eyes wide with sheer panic. She lay on the floor, her head bobbing frantically. She kept muttering, “No, no, get it away, Evelyn. Please, get it away! Ah!”
With Dahlia’s shrill screams echoing around the room, Evelyn tossed the snake onto her. Dahlia must have dropped rats through the skylight to scare her last night. She and Sena were thick as thieves. Sena must’ve spilled the beans about all the childhood bullying. What a piece of work Dahlia was. Evelyn remembered everything she had endured the night before, and her gaze grew colder. She was dead set on making Dahlia pay double.
Dahlia shook like a leaf, trying to fling the snake off, but her hands were tied, leaving her helpless as the snake slithered over her.
“Ah!”
Dahlia was nearly losing it. Her screams were relentless as she scrambled desperately on the floor to dodge the snake, but it was no use. Evelyn tossed another snake near her legs, and it quickly coiled around, slithering up her pant leg. “Ah! Ah!!!”
Her screams were bone-chilling. Dahlia’s face was drained of color, fear making her thrash her legs wildly, but she couldn’t shake off the slimy creature. She could feel it crawling over her, and it was utterly revolting. “Ah! Go away! Go away!”
As she flailed about, yet another snake was thrown her way.
“Please! Evelyn, I’m begging you, let me go! Please!”
Her makeup was a mess. Tears and snot covered her face as she sobbed and begged for Evelyn’s mercy. But Evelyn was unyielding, watching with icy detachment. Her face was a mask as she kept up the torment.
These snakes had been defanged.
They wouldn’t actually bite Dahlia,
but they were wreaking havoc on her mind. Evelyn stood outside the door the whole time, watching Dahlia become entangled with her worst nightmare.
She screamed chaotic pleas for help, had a mental breakdown, and was desperately begging.
Evelyn remained unmoved, her cold gaze never wavering. As time dragged on, Dahlia was pushed to the brink by Evelyn’s relentless torment. She felt like she was about to die.
Just then, urgent footsteps echoed from the elevator. Moments later, Charles appeared. His face was like thunder, seething with rage. “Evelyn, have you lost your mind? What on earth are you doing?”
Hearing Charles’ voice, a flicker of
hope sparked in Dahlia’s eyes. Charles was here. She was saved. She momentarily forgot her fear and shot Evelyn a venomous glare. Defiance was written all over her face as she silently mouthed, “Evelyn, you’re done for!”
Then, with a mix of grievance and despair, she cried out, “Charles… Charles… get me out of here… I’m so scared…”
But Evelyn wasn’t about to let Dahlia
put on more of a show. As soon as Charles showed up, she motioned for the bodyguard to shut the door. As it slowly closed, Evelyn cast a final, cold glance at Dahlia
