Evelyn’s eyes blazed with fury as she stormed over, her steps determined and purposeful. With one swift kick, she scattered the fruits and cake laid lovingly in front of Charlie’s tombstone, sending them flying.
She turned to Charles, her eyes bloodshot with anger, and lashed out, “Charles, are you serious? You didn’t even try to get justice for Charlie. Did you bring Dahlia, the murderer, to her grave to make her memory suffer? Do you even deserve to call yourself a father?”
Evelyn’s body trembled with rage. Her teeth clenched tightly. “And you want my Charlie to be reborn as your daughter? Are you even worthy of that?”
The thought of Charlie being reborn as Charles’ daughter was the ultimate betrayal in Evelyn’s eyes. Consumed by anger, she hurled the thermos she was holding straight at Charles’ head, wishing for a moment that he would just disappear from her sight.
Charles panicked and was caught off guard by Evelyn’s sudden appearance and the fury in her eyes. He instinctively stood up, trying to explain himself, but the thermos hit him squarely in the chest. Evelyn had thrown it with such force that Charles let out a pained groan. The impact jolted through his already heartbroken chest. Blood trickled slowly from the corner of his mouth as he staggered, struggling to maintain his balance.
“Charles!” Dahlia gasped, rushing to his side. Her face was a mask of distress. She supported him, her eyes brimming with tears as she turned to Evelyn. “Evelyn, please! Don’t talk about Charles like that! Can’t you see? Charlie is gone, and Charles is genuinely devastated! He truly wants to make things right for Charlie!”
“Stop blaming him; he’s already drowning in guilt. If there’s anyone to blame, it’s me. It was all my fault, not Charles’!” Dahlia continued, her voice earnest yet laced with sorrow. “I was the one who called Charles to the hospital that day! If I hadn’t, he wouldn’t have left Charlie alone at the amusement park… and she wouldn’t have died.”
Despite her tearful confession, Dahlia’s gaze at Evelyn was filled with malice. She intentionally pulled Charles closer, stepping forward defiantly. “Evelyn, if you have to lash out, do it at me. Charles can’t take it anymore! You might not care, but I do!”
Her voice cracked as she spoke, but she remained bold and fearless. Deep down, Charles didn’t believe she could have harmed Charlie, so Dahlia felt invincible.

“Eve, stop! Charles intervened just in time, grabbing Evelyn’s wrist and pulling Dahlia to safety. He wrapped Evelyn in his arms, holding her back from doing anything rash. “What are you doing?”
“Murder is a crime, and besides, this whole mess isn’t Dahlia’s fault; she’s
innocent!” Charles insisted, trying to reason with Evelyn.
Evelyn struggled in his grip, her hatred seething as she spat out through clenched teeth, “Let me go!”
Fearing she might lose control again, Charles held on tightly. “Calm down and listen to me. I know you loved Charlie deeply, and I understand you can’t accept her death.”
“You’re hurting, and that’s why you blame me for not being there and why you blame Dahlia for calling me. You hate us both!” he continued. “But think this through calmly t was an accident, and Dahlia isn’t to blame for Charlie’s death.”
