Chapter 149

“As for Frank, I have no doubt.” Granny Green replied calmly, “What I fear is that Maggie might cause trouble and force Frank to compromise.”
She then turned to Logan and Granny Brown and said, “You two may have to talk to her.”
Logan and Granny Brown both thought the same.
Meanwhile, Maggie and Johnny had no idea what the Brown and Green families were thinking. After exiting the elevator, they were heading to their private room when three tall figures walked towards them.
Seeing them, Johnny thought, “Am I cursed today?”
How did he keep running into all these bothersome people?
Maggie glanced over. Rex, Yves, and… someone else.
The last one seemed familiar, but she couldn’t recall where she’d seen him.
When the three men saw Johnny and Maggie, they took the initiative to greet Johnny.
“Mr. Gray, what a coincidence!”
Johnny’s smile was polite but cold, “Yes, quite a coincidence.”
Rex had called Yves earlier in the afternoon, intending to invite him to dinner and discuss potential cooperation, but was turned down.
Now that they had met by chance, Rex mostly ignored Maggie and said, “Since we’ve run into each other, why not join us?”
Yves also smiled, “Yeah, it’s been a while since we had a meal together.”
“No thanks.” Johnny declined with a smile. “I’ve got some business to attend to, not really convenient.”
Then he turned to the other person, “Young Master Hall, what brings you out today?”
Jimmy Hall’s handsome face showed little emotion. “I’m on a few days off.”
Johnny nodded. He wasn’t interested in chatting further and said, “Let’s leave the meal for next time. We Dave something to do, so we’ll head in first.”
Jimmy nodded.
Johnny and Maggie entered the private room–first.
Once they were a bit further away, Jimmy finally spoke, “Who pissed him off?”
Though Johnny hadn’t shown it explicitly, his demeanor clearly indicated that he didn’t want to interact with them.
Yves was confused. “I don’t think anyone did.”
Rex frowned but didn’t say anything.
Once they entered the private room, Yves took a sip of tea and said, “I have to admit, Yves is impressive. If those two projects go through, his value will skyrocket.”
Jimmy replied coolly, “He’s been smart since he was young, and with Nolan as his mentor, his field aligns perfectly with the current trends. His abilities are outstanding, so it’s natural for him to achieve something.”
Then he glanced at Rex, “I heard from Yves that you used to be interested in the woman beside Johnny, but you quickly lost interest. You can fall for someone else, but why the sudden dislike for her? Did she do something wrong?”
Earlier, Rex didn’t even spare Maggie a glance.
His dislike was so obvious it was hard to ignore. Thıs content belongs to fıt the beginning, Rex had been amazed by Maggie’s face and temperament, but now, hearing anyone mention her made him uncomfortable.
He furrowed his brows and said, “Can we not talk about her? Let’s just order.”
Jimmy shrugged and changed the subject.
