Fated The Alpha’s Unwanted Luna Chapter 433

Chapter 433 He’s not that angry

Viola woke up the next morning and immediately went to check on her husband, before doing anything else. She wouldn’t even call what she’d had “sleep,” since she’d spent most of the night wide-eyed, running through different scenarios of how she might make things right with Sebastian, of putting all of this behind them, especially with today being the full moon he’d spoken of, the day his brother might not survive.

Had she let him go through with sacrificing the mermaid, today would have been the day she carried his mark instead, the day their bond would have been sealed forever, the day she’d have been preparing for the ceremony rather than this.

She pushed the thought aside.

Last night, before going to bed, she had contacted Gilbert to ask questions about the curse and whether there was another way to break it.

“We’ve worked on it for years, Supreme Luna. Not just me, my great-grandfather did too. But there was nothing else that could break it completely except the prophesied mate, and none of the Silver Alphas had found her so far. It was as though she had never existed in this world.”

Viola had frowned. “How are they supposed to know she’s the one from the prophecy if no one has found her, and the Alphas are destined to so many she-wolves?” she’d asked, hating that only one person, someone who wasn’t her, could save Sebastian completely from the curse he desperately wanted to be rid of.

“She’s prophesied to be part of their fate. She’s said to have the strongest spirit, which we translate as wolf spirit. Though it’s also said that she bears the mark of the moon, that shouldn’t be the only way to identify her, because the mark could remain hidden and only surface after he marks her. That makes everything much harder, because if he marks the wrong one, she will die.

“So, at this point, he can only use the source of his curse to lift it or take three of his mates and mark them, allowing them to die before he can find the one he’s meant to have. Now that we’ve lost the mermaid, there’s nothing else I can think of,” Gilbert had said with a heavy sigh, one that told her he was growing weary of the case.

She snapped back to the present with a sigh when she couldn’t find her husband anywhere. She decided to look for Matt instead, eventually finding him in the office.

“He won’t be back for days, Supreme Luna. Just like what happened last month, he’ll be away for a while.” Matt informed her, once she asked about the Supreme Alpha.

“Oh…” Was all Viola managed to say, even as something clawed at her throat and chest underneath, thickening in her throat with emotion, as though she’d swallowed a lump of bread whole. She hated that he had left just like that, without seeing her, without giving her any chance to fix what she’d broken.

How was she supposed to reach Alex now, without Sebastian to take her there? She knew he’d gone to see his brother, but she had hoped, at the very least, that he would have come to see her first. She would have told him, if he’d given her the chance, that she might have been able to cure him herself.

Viola hoped nothing would happen to his twin, because if it did, she doubted he would ever truly forgive her for any of this. She turned away from the office, beginning to walk off, when she heard Matt call out,

“Supreme Luna,” he called, and she turned back to him as he added, “Don’t feel too bad. I don’t think he’s actually as angry with you as he made it seem. If it helps at all, he told me to look after you while he’s gone, and to make sure you have your bodyguards with you at all times, and to keep an eye out for Nick.”

Viola, who had been sinking into a downcast mood, brightened immediately at that, her heart leaping. Even though he hadn’t spoken to her directly, it was reassuring, knowing he still cared, still watched over her well-being even from a distance. Her mood lifted, and she said,

“Thank you, Beta Matt. What you just told me means so much to me.”

Viola returned to her penthouse feeling impossibly lighter, even though worry for his twin brother still lingered in her chest. She hoped his heart would hold on a little longer, just long enough for her to make things right with Sebastian first.

Even so, missing him tugged fiercely at her heartstrings, leaving her feeling emotional, as though some part of her were simply missing. Viola pushed the feeling aside and decided to busy herself with other things, counting down the days until his return.

But the feeling was so difficult to push away that it almost felt like the mate bond itself, as though being apart from him were slowly killing her, dulling everything else around her.

“Maybe it’s because I’m pregnant,” Viola whispered to herself, remembering she’d read that pregnant women often grew emotional over small, random things, and told herself this fierce ache could only be that, because she didn’t carry his mark for it to feel like she was dying inside herself without him.

It hurt so much she found herself easing her aching heart with her palm, rubbing against her chest and her eyes burning with hot tears.

It also reminded her that she still hadn’t told him about the pregnancy at all, he didn’t even know his child was growing inside her. There was almost too much they hadn’t gotten the chance to talk about yet. She found herself desperately wishing for a day like the one at the amusement park, the day he’d confessed his love to her. If only things could be that simple, that happy, again.

Viola scolded herself for wallowing in self-pity, and pushed herself back onto her feet, taking a shower and calling for breakfast, since she didn’t feel like cooking anything herself. Normally, as Luna, she would have been served automatically, but because of the omegas’ attitude in the past, she’d told them not to serve her unless she specifically called for it.

Viola settled into a routine, waking up, freshening up, eating a slice or two of bread, then heading to the office to finish Sebastian’s work.
