Chapter 825

[ 666 words ]

Dan stepped out of Blacktower.

Carroll glanced over at him. “Things aren’t looking good for Black Gate now. Do you think that mother and daughter will hand them over?”

It was obvious…

Everyone around Dan was convinced that Finch and Adelle were the most likely ones to have taken Lacey and her daughter.

Dan snorted. “You think they’d give them up that easily? Don’t underestimate a woman’s jealousy.”

He knew all too well what that woman was capable of back in the day.

She’d do anything to get what she wanted-always played innocent, but she was as cunning as a fox.

So, just like that, Dan pinned all the blame for Susanna’s disappearance squarely on Yvonne’s shoulders.

And now, based on nothing but his own gut feeling, Dan was dead set on blaming Finch and Adelle.

As for Derek… well, it was possible, but Dan wasn’t ready to fully accuse him yet. Carroll asked quietly, “So, what should we do?”

After all, Lottie had already sent people to Slatepeak Mines to take control- something Dan had wanted to do for ages, ever since Derek’s crew took over.

Dan’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Let’s just wait and see for now.”

“Alright.”

Carroll nodded.

Dan took a long drag on his cigar and stared out the window. Deep in his eyes was a sadness he tried to hide.

He couldn’t help picturing Yvonne with Xander, and that sadness quickly turned into irritation.

Over at Blacktower.

Finch stormed out of the house, face thunderous, with Adelle right on his heels. He was still fuming about what happened that day.

“Mom, did you see Dad just now…” Adelle started.

“Enough, just get people out there looking for Susanna-and that other woman,” Adelle cut her off, sharp and decisive.

She was sure Finch hadn’t taken them, and she didn’t believe Derek had either.

Finch usually did what she said, and Derek always put Black Gate’s interests first.

If Finch said those two weren’t with him, she believed it.

Finch tugged at his suit jacket, agitated. “It’s already taken care of!”

As soon as the chaos started in the study, he’d fired off messages to his people to start searching.

Dan, that bastard.

He was sure Dan was the one who’d taken them, and now he was out there

throwing accusations around, blaming everyone else.

If Dan kept this up, he’d bring the whole Black Gate crashing down.

If it all went to hell, nobody was getting out unscathed.

They hadn’t done a damn thing, and now they had to help with the search. What a joke…

And just like that, with Yvonne’s accusations, the Murray family was in total chaos, everybody pointing fingers at everyone else.

In the presidential suite the hotel, Hull took a call and got ready to head out, telling Barnaby to stay with Susanna.

Susanna looked up. “You’re leaving again? Did you hear something about my mom?”

Hull

over and ruffled her

hair. “Yeah, we’ve got a lead. Silas and bare going to check it out You stay here and be good alright?” FindNovels

“I want to go too,” Susanna said quickly, grabbing his hand.

Hull shook his head. “No way.”

Litamark was dangerous as hell. You never knew what you’d run into out there. She was safer staying put.

Besides, he had plenty of people with him—inside and outside the hotel, the place was basically locked down.

Susanna pouted. “I can handle it.”

She knew what Hull was worried about, but she wasn’t the clueless timid girl she’d been before. She’d spent over three weeks under Yvonne’s wing, after all. FindNovels

Hull pulled her into a hug, stealing a quick kiss-her scent was becoming addictive.

Before he lost control, he let her go, giving her a look. “I’ll deal with you when I get back.”

Susanna: “… You’re really not letting me go?”

Failed at being cute, failed at seduction. No dice.

Hull had his reasons, though. Litamark was crawling with organizations like Black

Gate.

To call this place the city of shadows wouldn’t be an exaggeration…

Hull left.

With just Susanna and Barnaby in

the suite, Barnaby pulled out his phone and started scrolling through videos. You know, maybe you should hold off on showing off everything you learned from vonne. Not sure it’s helping much, y’know?” FindNovels
