Chapter 889

[ 626 words ]

Shawn stared at Yvonne, completely bewildered. He had no idea what was going

on, and his clueless look just made Yvonne even angrier.

“You useless idiot!”

Furious, she tossed a scalpel onto the table in front of him.

Shawn flinched. “Whoa!”

Seriously, could someone please tell him what the hell was happening?

Yvonne was so incensed she didn’t want to waste another breath on Shawn.

Xander said gently, “Alright, just calm down and tell us what happened, okay?” “You two are both completely useless, and now you’re telling me to calm down?” Yvonne was already fuming, and Xander’s placating tone only made her angrier. Shawn scratched his head, still lost. “Wait… weren’t we just getting you a doctor’s appointment?”

“Yeah, you were supposed to get me a doctor! Does this look like a doctor’s appointment to you?”

Shawn asked, “So how did a fight break out?”

Right, all he’d done was call a doctor for Yvonne. How did she end up in a brawl with the physician?

Yvonne shot Shawn a death glare. Still not satisfied, she marched over and kicked him squarely in the shin.

Shawn stumbled back, stunned. The kick left him even more confused. “Hey! Yvonne, what the—!”

He was starting to think the doctor might have been right. Maybe Yvonne really had lost her mind.

When Xander had first mentioned that Yvonne was having some psychological issues, he hadn’t believed it. He couldn’t imagine anything that could push her to that point. But now? Now he was a believer.

Yvonne snapped, “What’s with that look?”

He was looking at her like she belonged in a straitjacket!

Even if Yvonne wasn’t crazy before, these two morons were about to drive her there.

“Keep staring. Go on, I dare you. I’ll gouge your eyes out!”

Shawn was speechless. Had she really gone insane?

Just as he was about to say something else, his phone started buzzing. The call was a lifesaver.

“Yvonne, I’ve got to take this.”

He answered the phone and turned, ready to escape the war zone. But as he listened to the person on the other end, his blood ran cold.

It was the director of the psychiatric hospital.

Shawn’s voice was strained. “What do you mean? It wasn’t Prof. Merton who came? Then who was it?”

“It was one of his patients!”

Shawn froze.

The air went still. He stood rooted to the spot, feeling like he’d been turned to stone.

His mind was a whirlwind of questions: *Where am I? Who am I? What is happening?*

Xander tried to calm her down.

A cold sweat prickled his back. He instinctively cupped his hand over the phone, lowering his voice. “What the hell is going on?”

He was supposed to hire a psychiatrist, and he ended up with one of their patients?

Could someone please explain how this happened?

“I’m terribly sorry. The man who came earlier is Dr. Merton’s most severe case. He had an episode, tied up Dr. Merton, and stuffed him. under the bed.”

Shawn was stunned into silence. Wait a minute…

An episode, tied up, stuffed under the bed. “This isn’t just some ‘psychological

issue.’ The guy’s a full-blown psycho!”

Shawn was so angry now that his voice shot up without him realizing it.

Xander and Yvonne both whipped their heads around to stare at him.

Shawn felt like crying. The name ‘Finley’ flashed in his mind. Finley was still out in the Muliba Desert, eating sand. He’d heard the guy was getting baked into a mummy out there…

“Damn it! What kind of shoddy operation are you running? You sent a patient? How

are you going to take responsibility for this?” Shawn exploded.

“We are truly sorry. By the time we realized what had happened, you’d already taken him away.”

Shawn’s head was pounding. Before he could say another word, Xander grabbed him by the scruff of his neck.
