Chapter 1089
[ 629 words ]
She answered the call.
Skye’s voice came through, practically vibrating with suppressed rage. “Yvonne, do you have a death wish?”
“What’s wrong? Your brother’s love life hit a snag?” Yvonne teased.
“You.”
The mere mention of a future sister-in-law struck a nerve.
Skye instantly replayed Finley and Tegan’s bizarre reactions to her matchmaking efforts. She wasn’t an idiot.
It was blatantly obvious now. Yvonne had played her like a fiddle!
“Don’t you dare! You absolute lunatic, are you completely out of your mind?” Skye snapped.
Yvonne blinked.
“I want the truth,” Skye demanded. “Did Finley actually tell Star that he’s into Tegan?”
“Huh?”
“Don’t play dumb with me! Give it to me straight!”
“Yeah, he did.”
Yvonne lied effortlessly, her tone steady and completely unbothered.
“He did?”
“Swear on my life.”
She couldn’t afford to break character now. The crazy woman on the other end of the line would actually murder her.
“Put Star on the phone. I am not listening to your bullshit.”
“Hey, watch your tone,” Yvonne huffed, feigning offense.
“I said, put Star on the phone right now, or I’ll book the next flight just to strangle you myself!”
“Oh, please, come try it. We’ll see who ends up in a body bag first.”
Yvonne wasn’t intimidated. They had been play-fighting and trading insults since they were kids.
“But let me just remind you,” Yvonne added smoothly, “if you hop on a plane now, your brother’s complete lack of social skills guarantees he is never going to win over a genius like Tegan.”
“Did you just call my brother stupid? You really are looking for an early grave, aren’t you?”
Skye was already furious about being manipulated.
Now Yvonne had the audacity to insult Finley’s intelligence!
Sure, Skye secretly agreed that her brother was clueless when it came to romance.
But nobody else was allowed to say it out loud.
“Okay, fine, your brother is a genius. You’re the clueless one. Happy?”
After all, if Skye were really that sharp, Yvonne wouldn’t have been able to trick her in the first place.
“You, just you wait, I’m going to.”
“Here’s Star. Skye wants to talk to you.”
Cutting Skye off mid-threat, Yvonne shoved the phone into Stella’s hands.
Stella was just dialing Susanna’s number, but hadn’t connected yet.
She pressed Yvonne’s phone to her ear. “Hey, Skye.”
“Star, tell me the absolute truth. Did Finley confess to you that he has feelings for Tegan?”
Stella’s heart skipped a beat.
She shot Yvonne a knowing look. She had warned her that Skye would figure it out eventually.
Judging by the ferocious tone in Skye’s voice, crossing this fierce woman was a terrible idea.
Stella cleared her throat. “Yeah, he told me.”
“He did?”
Qu
“Yeah. He said he really likes Tegan but he was worried about making move because Uriah was still in the

Yvonne’s eyes instantly lit up in sheer admiration.
That was her sister! Quick on her feet and an absolute natural at lying.
“Are you serious?”
“Dead serious.”
“He actually said that?”
Skye still sounded highly skeptical.
That sounded way too straightforward. Finley was notoriously awkward and reserved when it came to relationships.
Well, maybe not entirely reserved. He did have a terrible habit of running his mouth.
But surely he’d have a little more tact when talking about someone he actually liked?
“I mean, I heard him say it with my own two ears. Do you not believe me, Skye?” Stella softened her voice, lacing it with a pitch-perfect dose of hurt innocence.

“I believe you, I believe you.”
“Finley is just too embarrassed to admit it to your face. He’s shy!”
“He’s shy around me, but perfectly fine spilling his guts to you?”
“Well, he was worried about Tegan’s safety! He only came to me because he was desperate to protect her.”
“Think about it. When a guy goes out
