Chapter 1103
[ 620 words ]
Meanwhile, with Susanna.
Hull had just mentioned taking her out for dinner when Barnaby and Silas showed
up!
Seeing the two men, Hull frowned. “What is it?”
“Derek’s people are here.”
Susanna: “.”
She felt a sharp throb in her temples at the mention of Derek’s men. “What do they want now?”
Being bothered once a day was already giving her a massive headache.
And he was back again?
Barnaby: “They want your hair for a DNA test!”
Susanna: “Haven’t we already done that?”
What was his deal? Another test?
Hadn’t the old man had enough of DNA tests lately? He still wanted more?
Barnaby: “He’s probably been driven out of his mind!”
Silas: “Finch ran away from Blacktower. Adelle must have said something to him…”
Talk about being driven crazy-Derek’s life had been one massive shock after another lately.
The woman he had doted on for years hadn’t given him a single child.
Worse yet, he had played the fool, raising someone else’s kids for years!
Derek had treated those illegitimate children remarkably well…!
The better he treated them, the harder the truth hit him.
“There’s no need for a test. Even if the report says I’m his, I’m not!”
“My mom made it perfectly clear. If he still doesn’t believe it…”
Susanna was completely speechless.
Hull grabbed her hand. “Let’s go.”
Since she didn’t want to do the test, no one was going to touch a single hair on her head today.
Barnaby tagged along, trailing right behind Susanna and Hull.
Hull glanced back at him. “What are you doing?”
Barnaby: “Boss, I haven’t had dinner yet either!”
“Go eat wherever you want!”
He really couldn’t read the room.
Silas quickly pulled back Barnaby, who was still trying to argue. This guy really had no common sense!
“Why did you pull me?”
Silas: “Couldn’t you see the boss was annoyed? Why be a third wheel?”
“They’ve been together for so long. What’s the big deal about grabbing a meal together?”
If they were in the honeymoon phase and didn’t want a third wheel, that’d be one thing.
But to Barnaby, Susanna and Hull practically acted like an old married couple!!
Silas: “I can’t even be bothered to explain it to you. Seriously.”
He was impossible!
Barnaby

truth. The boss is acting so weird.
reaction to women
When he was single, he was aloof and unapproachable.
He looked like anyone who got close to him would end up dead.
Now that he had a girl, he was practically glued to her at all times. So clingy!
Silas had zero desire to continue the conversation. “Just go to Blacktower and deal with Derek.”
“Why do I have to deal with him?”
Susanna didn’t even want to do the DNA test, so what was there to deal with?
They could just pretend he didn’t exist!
Silas: “Aren’t you good at comforting people?”
Barnaby: “You want me to go all the way to Blacktower to comfort him?”
Was he joking?
What connection did Derek have with them? Why should Barnaby be the one to comfort him?
Barnaby completely missed the sarcasm in Silas’s voice.
Inside the elevator.
Susanna: “Barnaby can be such a clown sometimes.”
“He really is.”
Thinking about the ‘comforting’ words Barnaby had directed at Derek earlier today gave Hull a slight headache.
Thank god it was aimed at Derek.
If he had directed that mouth at anyone else, Hull wouldn’t have let him speak at all.
That mouth of his was a liability more often than not.
At Blacktower.
Derek hadjust sent his men to find
Susanna when Lacey arrived right of
on their heels, trailing a group et
Black Gate Elders.
These were all men who used to work under Derek, but had ended up dedicating their loyalty to Lacey!
To this day, Derek still couldn’t figure
it out He had only let Lacey manage
the Black Gate for a short while back
in the day.
