Chapter 32
Chapter 32:
A tense silence settled over the room.
Everyone watched the scene unfold, disbelief written across their faces. Who would have imagined that the sweet, soft-spoken Brinley could have such a sharp, unrelenting side?
Standing a short distance away, Colin felt his chest tighten with tangled emotions.
The fierce, confident woman before him was nothing like the shy Brinley he had once known—the one who had always looked at him with timid admiration. That Brinley would never have dared raise her voice, yet here she was, handling a volatile situation with chilling composure.
The guests were still reeling when a stir rippled through the entrance of the banquet hall.
Austin strolled in, flanked by bodyguards. He looked dangerous, intimidating—every step carrying quiet dominance.
His gaze swept across the room. He caught sight of Rogelio, disheveled and trembling, then looked to Brinley. Her gown was slightly disturbed, yet she stood tall and dignified.

A menacing gleam flashed in Austin’s eyes.
“It’s Mr. Moore!” someone gasped.
Ignoring the whispers, Austin walked straight to Brinley. Without asking a single question, he slipped off his jacket and draped it gently over her shoulders. Then he turned, fixing Rogelio with a murderous stare.
“Mr… Mr. Moore…” Rogelio stammered, his voice shaking uncontrollably. His face had gone pale with fear. “It’s… it’s all a misunderstanding… nothing more p>
Austin didn’t even acknowledge him. Instead, he spoke in a low, decisive tone to his assistant, Miguel Barnes. “Throw him out p>
Then, his eyes sweeping over the stunned crowd, he announced coldly, “From this moment forward, Moore Group will be targeting every single project run by Scott Group p>
The words hit like thunder. Audible gasps rose as faces paled all around.
Rogelio’s knees nearly buckled. He tried to plead, but the bodyguards had already seized him and dragged him away.
“Mr. Moore, please! Have mercy! I was wrong p>
His desperate cries echoed down the corridor until they faded into nothing, leaving the hall swallowed in eerie silence.
Every head turned back toward Austin and Brinley, stunned.
They knew it well: Austin never made idle threats. Scott Group was finished.
Colin stood rooted in the crowd. He had watched Austin drape his jacket over Brinley’s shoulders with quiet protectiveness, and a bitter ache curled deep in his chest. He wanted to step forward, to say something, but his legs felt heavy—shackled to the floor.
What right did he have anymore?
Beside Austin, Brinley felt the shelter of his tall frame, a surprising sense of safety creeping over her.
Watching Rogelio dragged away in disgrace and the once-lively hall frozen in fear, she could only smile wryly.
