That night, as Rosa tried to matchmake Evelyn and Charles, Dahlia cleverly pinned the blame for Charles’ drugging on Evelyn. This led Charles to mistakenly believe that Evelyn deliberately spiked his drink because she felt neglected and wanted to ruin his and Dahlia’s relationship so he could be with her instead. Consequently, Charles grew to deeply detest Evelyn. But Dahlia knew deep down that all her manipulation misled Charles. He still cared for Evelyn, even more than she had anticipated. This realization made Dahlia uneasy. She couldn’t afford to let Charles uncover the truth.
Upon returning home, she exploited Charles’ guilt towards her and Sandy, pushing him further away from Charlie. When she learned Charlie had kidney disease, she contemplated severing the most significant link between Charles and Evelyn. Without the child, Evelyn and Charles would have nothing left to hold them together.
But things didn’t unfold as she had planned. Now, with the truth about the drugging coming to light, all the emotions Charles had suppressed came rushing back. Dahlia was thrown into a state of panic. Instinctively, she reached for her phone and dialed Charles’ number.
On the other end, Charles, recognizing the ringtone and seeing Evelyn stirred by it, frowned a bit. He got up, intending to switch off his phone, but accidentally hit the answer button. Dahlia noticed that Charles still picked immediately, and her heart settled a bit. She still held a special place in his heart.
As soon as the call connected, Dahlia launched into a tearful, anxious plea, “Charles, Sandy was hurt at the Jenkins family today…” This move had always worked on Charles. She was determined not to let Charles and Evelyn get any alone time.
“Yeah, calm her down for me. I’m busy,” he replied, hanging up before Dahlia could speak again. Dahlia was in disbelief and dialed once more… “Sorry, the number you have dialed is switched off,” the automated message informed her.
Dahlia watched the surveillance
footage as Charles carried Evelyn upstairs. Her expression turned fierce, her eyes reddening with anger, as she slammed her phone to the floor. Sandy watched, tears in her eyes, as she approached carefully, reaching out to wipe Dahlia’s tears. “Mommy, don’t cry…. I’ll call Daddy to come over now…”
Before she could finish, Dahlia slapped her. “You’re useless. What can I expect from you?” Sandy fell to the ground, tears streaming silently down her face.

intimidated and replied, “They’re in the trash bin across the street…” Hearing this, Charles quickly headed over. Realizing his intent, the shop owner handed him a pair of gloves, touched by his effort to recover the gift Charlie had painstakingly made for him.
Charles thanked her, donned the gloves, and grimaced as he approached the grimy trash bin. He remembered the time Charlie invested in making the cup and how devastated she’d be if she knew he broke it, so he braved the disgust and retrieved each shard, placing them in a paper bag.
Back at Oakwood Manor, Charles peeked into the master bedroom to check on Evelyn, who was still asleep, before moving to another room to clean up both himself and the ceramic pieces. Then, sitting at his desk, he began piecing them back together with care.
