Chapter 888
Hailey wasn’t the least bit surprised to see Joanne. She had a feeling Joanne would find her in private sooner or later.
Ever since that under-the-table deal, they hadn’t seen each other again.
Joanne smiled. “Ms. Hailey, you’re as sharp as ever. Yes, I came here specifically to see you. Jonah’s face has healed completely, and I’m with him now.”
Joanne had gotten together with Jonah?
Hailey had thought this might happen someday, but now that the day had actually come, it still felt like a gut punch. It hurt a lot.
Joanne continued, “Jonah and I are really happy now. We’ll probably get married soon. I’m sure Ms. Hailey will give us her blessing.”
Was Jonah marrying Joanne? Everything was happening so fast.
Hailey curled her hands into a fist, and her nails dug into her palms. The pain didn’t even register with her.
If it hadn’t been for that accident, she and Jonah would probably already be married by now.
But now, Jonah was going to marry Joanne.
Hailey looked at Joanne. “Do you think I’d give you my blessing?”
She took a step forward. “Others might not know, but you and I both do. You used dirty tricks to get Jonah. Don’t pretend to be some innocent sweetheart in front of me. I don’t want to see your face again.”
With that, Hailey turned and walked away.
Joanne watched her leave, a vicious smirk creeping onto her face.
Hailey stepped into the hallway and once again saw a familiar figure-Justin.
What was today, some kind of cursed reunion? She was running into every single one of them.
Justin spotted her, too. “Hello, Ms. Hailey.”
Hailey looked right at him. “Hi. Say what you came to say. I doubt we’ve got anything worth catching up on.”
“Ms. Hailey, always the straight-shooter. Alright, I’ll be blunt. I never liked you. And clearly, I was right. You’re not worthy of anyone’s affection.
“When your family got into trouble, you used Jonah. And once you got what you needed, you tossed him aside because of his face.
“If it weren’t for Joanne nearly dying to find that snow lotus, Jonah’s face would never have recovered. You betrayed him repeatedly. You don’t deserve him.
“But luckily, all of this helped Jonah see your true colors and realize Joanne’s the one who truly cares about him.”
Hailey gave a cold laugh to herself. Did they even know how that snow lotus was really found? Did they know what Joanne was really like? What a joke.
“That’s all you came to say? If you’re done, I’m leaving,” Hailey said.
She turned to go.
However, he kept talking. “Ms. Hailey, stop clinging to Jonah. Let him and Joanne live their life.”
She straightened up. Her bright and
clear eyes met his. “If that’s why you’re here, let me make it simple for you fm not clinging to Jonah wish Jonah and Joanne a quick wedding with lots of kids. Satisfied?
Justin looked up suddenly and called out, “Jonah.”
Hailey froze. Slowly, she turned around and saw Jonah, backlit by the light, standing there.
No one knew how long he had been
there, but it was obvious he had overheard her entire conversation with Justin, especially that last part where she wished Jonah and e Joanne & quick marriage and many, children.
Hailey stood stiffly, rooted to the spot.
Jonah’s cold, distant gaze landed on her face, chilling and emotionless. Even from this far away, she could
feel the bitter cold radiating from him.
