“Since you’re both here now,” Gabriel began, his voice calm but eager, “I think it would be better if I just say it.” Thɪs chapter is updated by ~net
All eyes turned to him. There was something different about Gabriel Wyndham today. The man who was known for his strict, commanding presence now looked softer–almost boyishly excited. His usual sternness had given way to warmth, and a faint smile tugged at his lips.
“So…” he said, pausing a little to amuse his audience, “we have a new house now p>
He said it playfully, expecting everyone to share in his excitement. But instead of cheers, he was met with puzzled looks. Even Isla tilted her head slightly, not understanding what he meant.
“What exactly are you saying, Gabriel?” Diana asked, clearly confused. “What other house are you talking about p>
Realizing his lighthearted approach didn’t quite land, Gabriel let out a small laugh, rubbed his palms together, and settled back into the sofa. His face grew serious again–but his tone remained gentle.
“I bought a house,” he said quietly. “In Whale Estate p>
The room went silent.
Isla’s eyes widened for the second time that morning. “You what?” she whispered, hardly believing what she just heard.
Whale Estate was one of the most luxurious and exclusive residential areas in the entire city–a place only the wealthiest few could afford. Why would he buy another house when they already had two beautiful ones?
Gabriel looked at her and smiled softly. “I know that someday, our family will grow,” he explained. “So I made a plan. Once my wife became pregnant, we’d move into our new home–a place that’s just ours, built for our future p>
For a few seconds, no one spoke. Then Diana gasped, her hand flying to her chest. “Oh, my dear,” she breathed, tears filling her eyes, “how many more surprises will I get in less than twenty–four hours?” Her voice trembled with emotion.
Charles stood up, his face glowing with pride. “Congratulations, Gabriel,” he said sincerely as he extended his hand. “I am proud of you, son. This is more than good news–it’s wonderful p>
Gabriel stood too and shook his hand firmly. “Thank you, sir,” he said with a small nod.
Meanwhile, Isla sat frozen for a moment, her heart swelling. A new home? For their growing family? She hadn’t expected it- hadn’t even dreamed it—but the thought filled her chest with warmth. Her eyes glistened, and she felt her lips curve into a trembling smile.
When Gabriel noticed her eyes glimmering with unshed tears, he immediately walked over and sat beside her. Without saying a word, he slipped an arm around her and pulled her gently against his chest. To his quiet surprise, she didn’t resist him this time. She leaned against him, her head resting lightly on his shoulder.
At that moment, Magdalene appeared, carrying a small tray of sliced fruits. “Madam, you need to eat something,” she said kindly.
Gabriel took the tray from her and placed it on the side table. “Thank you, Magdalene,” he said. Then, picking up the small fruit fork, he stabbed a berry and turned to Isla.
Their eyes met. For a brief, wordless moment, the air between them softened. Gabriel lifted the fork and brought it close to her lips. Isla hesitated, then opened her mouth and took the fruit gently. His lips twitched into a faint smile as he watched her chew.
It was an intimate, delicate moment–one that neither of them wanted to break–but then Charles cleared his throat, his voice cutting through the quiet.
“Well,” he said, smiling knowingly, “we should be going. We still plan to stop by Maya’s place. Please, take good care of

yourself, Isla p>
Gabriel was about to stand up to see them off, but Diana stepped closer and gently tapped his shoulder.
“We’ll see ourselves to the door,” she said kindly. “Just take care of your wife. She needs you more than we do p>
Then she winked at the two of them.
Isla’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Mama!” she exclaimed, shooting her mother a glare.
Diana and Charles only laughed as they walked away, clearly pleased by what they had seen.
Once the door closed behind them, the house fell quiet again. Isla stood, took the tray from the table, and collected the fork from Gabriel’s hand.
“Thanks for the acting,” she said softly, her tone teasing but distant. “But I can feed myself p>
Gabriel blinked, caught off guard. “Acting?” he muttered under his breath, watching her walk away toward the kitchen.
She didn’t reply.
And though her words stung a little, Gabriel couldn’t help but smile faintly. Because even if she called it “acting,” he knew that for the first time since everything that happened–she hadn’t pushed him away.
