Chapter 88
She tilted her head, trying to think fast. Her eyes swept around the large suite, searching for Alfred’s phone, but there was no sign of it anywhere. Her heart pounded. If he found that phone and saw the news…
Just then, the door opened, and the doctor walked in. Relief washed over Isla’s face. At least his presence would distract Alfred’s attention away from the phone. Two nurses followed closely behind the doctor, their white uniforms crisp under the soft hospital lights.
“I see the chairman has finally awoken from his brief sleep,” the doctor said cheerfully as he approached the
bedside. This content belongs to.net
Alfred’s expression shifted slightly, something unreadable crossing his tired eyes. Isla couldn’t tell if it was suspicion or confusion.
It was Isla’s behaviour that confused Alfred. He had just asked for his phone and nothing more. So, what seemed to be the problem?
“I’ll be right back, Grandfather,” Isla said quickly before stepping out of the room, leaving the doctor and nurses
to attend to him.
She didn’t even wait for a reply. She was so desperate to leave. Anything to distract him from his phone.
In the lounge area, Sofie stood up as soon as Isla entered. “How is he?” she asked, worry written all over her face.
“He’s fine now,” Isla said softly, exhaling in relief. “At least he’s no longer in a coma p>
Her phone buzzed suddenly.
A message flashed on the screen. “We need to talk p>
Isla stared at it, her face unreadable. Whoever sent that message must be very important. Her eyes said it all.
“Who was it?” Sofie asked, snapping Isla out of her thoughts.
Isla forced a faint smile. “Nobody important p>
But Sofie wasn’t convinced. She knew Isla too well to believe that. Whoever sent that message was definitely someone important–and she silently promised herself to find out who.
That day, Isla stayed by Alfred’s side until nightfall. She refused to leave him. Gabriel and John were still caught up handling the chaos at the police station, while Alfred–though recovering–could sense something was
wrong.
All through the time she was there, Isla didn’t allow him to watch the news, and his phone mysteriously remained out of reach. She kept him company by talking and feeding him soup. But behind that calmness, she was desperately trying to protect him.
Later that night, Isla was home, fast asleep. Gabriel had returned hours later, exhausted and restless. After a quick shower, he climbed into bed beside her and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her body close to

his.
His hand found her breast, cupping gently as she stirred. A soft moan escaped her lips. “Gabriel,” she was still half asleep, she moved slightly against him.
Gabriel smirked, his body already reacting to her. Without waking her fully, he trailed his fingers lower, slipping them between her thighs and finding her warmth. He began to circle her slowly, teasingly, Isla gasped softly, her body responding to his touch.
“Wake up, love,” he whispered against her ear, his voice deep and husky. “I need you p>
Her eyes fluttered open, hazy and dazed, and then she realized she wasn’t dreaming. Gabriel was really in bed with her, touching her, wanting her.
Her response came as a breathy moan. His fingers moved faster, and before she could stop herself, she reached her peak with a trembling cry. Her back arched, her body pressing closer to his.
Just like a flash of light, Gabriel freed himself and, from behind, just as they lay, her back against his chest–he slid inside her. The air left her lungs in a long, shivering moan.
His hand lifted her right leg slightly, giving him more room to move. He began to thrust, slow and deep, each stroke deliberate and powerful. Isla whimpered his name, her fingers clutching the sheets.
He groaned low in his throat, his pace building as pleasure tightened between them.
“Squeeze me more… and come with me,” he breathed against her neck.
That did it. Her body clenched around him as her release hit hard. Her moans filled the room, and moments later, Gabriel followed, spilling into her with a final, deep thrust.
He pulled her close, holding her tightly as they both tried to catch their breath. The rhythm of their hearts slowed together, and soon, sleep found them again.
The following two weeks were hectic for Gabriel and Isla.
Sia and Mia were finally back home. Sia had undergone nose surgery to fix the damage from the fight. Gabriel had managed to negotiate with the assaulted woman’s family, convincing them to drop the charges. And they did for his sake.
Alfred Wyndham, now fully recovered and back home, eventually learned about the scandal Isla had tried so hard to hide from him. He was disappointed but kept his cool. His decisions are for the best.
Mia was asked to leave the Wyndham Trusts, and she was placed under an indefinite suspension. The same fate befell Delphine, she has also been asked to leave Wyndham Wardrobe. Her public image had taken a severe hit, after the viral video.
Jeffrey Cavalier, the talented Wyndham Wardrobe creative director, was promoted to executive director–It was a significant change that stabilized the business.
Even Anna stepped down from her position as medical director, acknowledging that the family’s reputation

needed time to heal.
With these changes, the Wyndham empire slowly began to find balance again.
But in a family like the Wyndhams, where wealth runs as deep as the ocean and power is a constant battle, peace is nothing but a fragile dream.
