Chapter 152
Just yesterday, Alfred Wyndham was finally laid to rest..The memory of the burial still stayed in their hearts. Very fresh and painful.
The family was still mourning deeply, yet even in their grief, there were matters that could not be ignored. There were questions that needed answers-confusions that needed clarity.
Today, the entire Wyndham family gathered in the large family sitting room. Every one of them had their own questions for John. Some were common questions. Some were deeply personal.
Gabriel sat quietly beside Isla, his face composed but his heart restless. He had already pieced the truth together –the woman he saw with his father at the burial was his birth mother. His father had not formally introduced her yet, but Gabriel knew. Still, he had other questions… especially concerning the divorce settlement John signed by giving out half of his shares.
Landon and Mia sat calmly, their fingers loosely intertwined. But Wyatt and his wife, Sia, were restless. Their bodies were stiff, their expressions tense. Something about the meeting unsettled them, and they couldn’t hide
John had called this emergency meeting for a reason. He needed to come clean.
Alfred had intended to reveal part of the truth himself before his death. But since life had taken him away before he could finish the work, it now fell on his only son to carry out what the old man started.
John entered the family sitting room quietly with slow steps, his expression unreadable. His children and their wives stood when he walked in. But before he joined them, someone else caught his attention.
Lysander-Wyatt’s eighteen-year-old daughter who had just flown back from overseas for Alfred’s burial—sat beside her parents. Her young brown eyes followed John as he approached. Her long dark brown hair framed her delicate face.
John offered her a small smile.
“Lysander, dear,” he said softly, “I will need you to excuse us for now. I hope you understand?”
“Of course, Grandfather. I understand.”
She stood up immediately, bowed her head respectfully, and left the room without question.
John finally settled into his seat, and without wasting time, he began.
“I am not going to keep any of you in the dark anymore.”
The room fell completely silent.
Gabriel leaned back, Isla’s hand resting on his. Landon and Mia exchanged a small nod, waiting patiently. But Wyatt sat stiffly, eyes narrowed, chest rising and falling too quickly. Sia looked nervous, her gaze flicking between her husband and her father-in-law.
John continued, “I chose to do what I am about to do today because I know you all have questions.”
He paused and looked around the room slowly.

“Everyone makes mistakes. My late father made mistakes too. Before he died, he fought to correct them. But unfortunately, he passed away before completing what he began. Now, I must finish what he started.”
A ripple of confusion moved among the children. They exchanged glances-unsure where this was headed.
John took a deep breath and leaned forward slightly.
“I know that no matter what happens today, some of you may still question my father’s decisions. But you must understand this-he made those decisions after long discussions and many arguments with me. And in the end … I supported him.”
Still, no one understood what he meant. But the tension in the room grew thicker.
“Before I continue,” John said firmly, “I need to clear the air about Anna.”
Wyatt inhaled sharply. Sia stiffened. Isla’s eyes darkened, remembering all the pain Anna caused her.
John continued, “First of all, I did not ask Anna for a divorce. I was considering it, yes. But I did not ask for it. Yet just when my father died and while I was grieving, she sent me divorce papers-demanding half of my properties.”
He paused briefly. His jaw clenched.
“Since that was what she wanted, I gave her exactly what she asked for. Even though some of you objected to it, I did it anyway. As of now, Anna Finley and I are no longer together. She is no longer part of this family.”
Wyatt flinched.
John’s voice remained steady.
“I have declared all my assets to her lawyers. The settlement is already being processed.”
Everyone listened in silence.
“But here is the thing,” John added, his eyes narrowing, “Anna knew that my father willed everything to me. She knew I was his heir. However… that changed.”
The children exchanged confused looks.
“What I am saying is…” John continued slowly, “Father adjusted his will. So your fears about me giving Anna half of what I am worth should not bother you. She is getting only a few millions through the divorce, nothing
more.”
Wyatt shot up from his seat.
“That was wicked of you, Father!” he barked.
Everyone turned to Wyatt, stunned by his sudden outburst.
“You knew you are no longer the heir of this family, and yet you let her believe you were!” Wyatt accused bitterly. “How could you be so cruel?”
John’s expression dropped. The warmth in his eyes vanished. His voice no longer held the softness of a grieving father-it carried authority.

“Sit down, Wyatt,” John said coldly. “Before I change my mind about you.”
Wyatt froze.
The atmosphere tightened instantly.
Everyone felt the energy shift.
The meeting had only just begun…
