Chapter 183

“What happened to my father, Stone?”

Gabriel’s voice came out low and strained as his eyes took in the scene before him.

John and Gladys lay on two separate hospital beds, placed side by side in the same private room. The soft beeping of heart monitors filled the air, steady but frightening. Tubes were attached to John’s body, more than Gladys had.

Machines surrounded him, quietly doing the work his body was struggling to do on its own.

Seeing his father like this, with bandages all around his head made something tighten painfully in Gabriel’s chest.

“They were kidnapped,” Stone said calmly, but his eyes were serious. “Your father was badly injured.”

Gabriel clenched his jaw.

“I believe Wyatt was deeply involved,” Stone continued.”

We will know the full truth once your father is strong enough-to speak clearly.”

Gabriel closed his eyes.

For a few seconds, he said nothing. He simply stood there, breathing slowly, trying to steady himself. When he opened his eyes again, he walked closer to the bed and gently took his father’s fingers into his hand.

John’s hand felt colder than usual.Gabriel swallowed hard.

He turned briefly to Gladys and checked her too. She was still asleep, her face looking pale.

“Doctor Matt said they both need rest,” Stone added quietly. “Your mother will be fine. As for your father..” He paused carefully. “The head injury was serious, but not deep. No sign of concussion. He was lucky.”

Gabriel nodded slowly.

“Thank you, Stone,” he said after a moment. “For saving him. For everything.”

Stone only gave a slight nod. He didn’t take praise lightly.

After a moment, Gabriel turned to him again.

“If I may ask… how did you find them?”

Stone answered without hesitation. “Through the tracker on him.”

Gabriel frowned. “You put a tracker on my father?”

“I put trackers on everyone, sir.”

Gabriel blinked. “What?”

Stone remained calm. “Your late grandfather requested it.

He wanted a way to track everyone’s movement and Location at any time.”

Gabriel let out a small, helpless chuckle.Even after death, Alfred Wyndham was still controlling things.

“How do you expect me to get a good rest when you two keep disturbing my sleep?”

Gabriel froze. And Stone turned sharply.

John had opened his eyes.

“Dad,” Gabriel rushed forward immediately. His voice cracked slightly. “How are you feeling?”

John gave a weak smile. “I would’ve been better if you hadn’t interrupted my sleep.”

Gabriel laughed softly, relief flooding his chest. “I’m sorry this happened to you,” he said, his voice filled with guilt.

John’s eyes shifted to Stone. “Where is Wyatt?”

“He has been locked up,” Stone replied. “The woman involved has also been arrested.”

John nodded slowly.

“Father,” Gabriel said carefully, “what exactly happened?”

John exhaled deeply.

“It turns out your granduncle-the one who escaped prison years ago-has finally decided to come after my family,” he said. “Wyatt and Johanna… Anna’s sister… they were just tools in his hands.”Gabriel’s fists clenched tightly.

So it was true.

“Wyatt did all this to me,” John continued bitterly. “After everything, he still chose the wrong path. He proved to me that he will never change.”

He turned his head slightly toward Stone.

“Make sure he never walks free again,” John said firmly.”

He should join his mother in prison.”

“And the woman?” Stone asked.

“All of them,” John replied. “Every single person involved.”

Stone nodded once.

“Stone,” John added after a moment, “we need full security from now on. Especially for Gabriel and Isla. That is very important.”

“I’m already working on it, sir,” Stone replied.

Just then, Doctor Matt walked into the room with a calm smile.

“How is Mr Wyndham doing?” he asked.

“I’m good, Doctor,” John replied lightly.

“Mrs Gladys will sleep for a few more hours,” Doctor Matt said. “She needs it. But she’s stable.”He then turned to Gabriel.

“Yes, Doctor?” Gabriel asked.

“I was about to call your wife,” Doctor Matt said. “The woman with the bullet wound is awake now.”

Gabriel’s eyes widened.

Stone’s expression sharpened.

“You can see her if you want,” the doctor added.

Stone looked at Gabriel. “We should go now. This might give us all the answers.”

Gabriel nodded.

Finally, the truth was about to come out.
