Chapter 69
Gabriel and Isla stood up immediately, already walking toward Landon. The others remained seated, watching them with curiosity.
“What is it?” Gabriel’s voice came sharp and tense.
Landon’s eyes flicked briefly toward the others before returning to his brother. “It’s Mother,” he said quietly. We should talk in my office first p>
“thout another word, Gabriel was already moving, his stride fast and determined. Isla followed closely behind him, her heels clicking softly against the marble floor. Landon walked behind them after politely excusing himself from Gabriel and Isla’s friends.
The moment they stepped into Landon’s office, the atmosphere thickened with tension. Gabriel didn’t bother to sit down. His eyes were darker, his jaw tight. “ What happened to my mother?” he demanded.
Landon walked to his desk and sat down, trying to stay calm. “Can we please sit first?” he said, gesturing to the two chairs in front of him. “Isla, please p>
Isla nodded, though her heart was already beating fast. She glanced at Gabriel–he looked exhausted, the weight of the day heavy on his shoulders. Everyone knew Gabriel loved his mother deeply. That bond had given Anna a kind of power over him, allowing her to interfere in his marriage as she pleased.
Even though Gabriel had recently drawn a line, refusing to let his mother control things anymore, it didn’t mean he stopped caring. The thought of something happening to her clearly shook him.
Gabriel finally sat down beside Isla. “Tell me what’s going on p>
Landon exhaled. “There’s a lot happening online about Mom’s health. You should check social media–her name is trending right now. Father just called me. They’re both in the hospital with her. She’s been admitted p>
Gabriel frowned deeply. “What? Why? What happened p>
Landon rubbed his forehead. “It’s probably because of the rumors about her mental health. Someone recorded a video of her driving into a mental hospital. There are also pictures–people are sharing them everywhere p>
豆
“What was she doing in a mental hospital?” Isla asked softly, her voice full of concern.
“I don’t know,” Landon said honestly. “But the internet is running wild with it. They’re saying she’s unstable. Some people even claim she had a breakdown.
Gabriel was silent for a long moment. His mind was racing, but nothing made sense.
Landon looked at him, noticing how drained he seemed. “You should rest and check on her tomorrow, before going to the office,” he suggested gently.
“No,” Gabriel said firmly, standing up. “I’m not waiting until tomorrow. We’re going now p>
Isla rose with him immediately. “He’s right. We should go see her now p>
Landon sighed but didn’t argue. “Alright then. If you insist, we’ll all head there together p>

Gabriel didn’t waste another second. He took Isla’s hand, and together they hurried out of the office.
Outside Wyndham Hospital.
By the time they arrived, chaos had already taken over. The hospital entrance was crowded with reporters and photographers. Microphones in their hands. Full light everywhere and their cameras on standby. They’re all waiting to get the right opportunity.
They had found their way to the scene, circling like vultures hungry for drama. No one from the hospital was willing to give any statement, but that didn’t stop them from speculating
Soon, several sleek black cars pulled up in a convoy. Gabriel and Isla stepped out first, flanked by their bodyguards. The moment the reporters recognized them, the noise tripled.
“Mr. Wyndham! Is it true Mrs. Anna Wyndham has a mental breakdown?” one shouted.
“Why was she at a psychiatric hospital?” another asked.
“We heard she’s stepping down from her position–can you confirm that p>
The flashes were blinding, but Gabriel didn’t flinch. His hand moved to Isla’s back protectively as he guided her through the crowd. His expression was cold and unreadable. He’d dealt with these people his whole life; he knew better than to feed their gossip.
The bodyguards quickly formed a barrier, keeping the reporters from getting too close, but the storm of questions followed them all the way to the entrance.
A few moments later, more familiar faces arrived–Peter, Ben, Betsy, and Sofie. Landon joined them shortly after. Together, they walked inside, after escaping the media who recognised them. Their presence immediately drew attention.
It was already past ten at night, and the hospital hallways had grown quiet. But when the nurses and a few patients saw the group of powerful, elegantly dressed people entering, whispers followed them.
Stephanie, Anna’s PA approached quickly, her expression polite and anxious. “Good evening, sir,” she greeted Gabriel respectfully.
“Where is she?” Gabriel asked without hesitation.
“She’s in the family wing. Everyone is there. ” Latest content published on.net
Gabriel nodded once. He tightened his grip on Isla’s hand as they waited for the elevator. The others stood a few steps behind. Everyone was silent, watching.
Inside the elevator, Isla could see the worry written across Gabriel’s face. He hadn’t said a word since they entered, but his silence said more than anything else could.
She knew how much he loved his mother–even if Anna had never accepted her. The woman’s dislike had been clear from the start. Isla had endured the insults, the cold stares, the harsh comments, all for the sake of peace.

And now, as they rode up to see her, fear twisted inside Isla’s chest. She didn’t know how Anna would react when she saw her. Maybe anger. Maybe more insults.
Part of her wanted to stay outside, to give Gabriel space with his family. But another part of her–the one that had fought for this marriage–refused to step back. She didn’t want to be the reason another rift grew between them, not after everything they’d been through.
She swallowed hard, forcing a calm expression as the elevator doors opened.
But the chaos before them was something none of them could handle.
