“Stay,” he said in a harsh tone. His voice was laced with irritation. “My brother is leaving anyway.
The harshness in his voice startled her. Gabriel rarely lost his calm, but right now, he looked dangerously close to snapping.

Wyatt took a step forward, his sharp gaze moving from Gabriel to Isla and back again. Flis voice carried authority, the kind that demanded attention. “I just got here,” he said flatly, “and no one leaves until I’m done p>
The words felt like a threat. Isla froze where she stood. She felt her stomach twisted. Gabriel’s jaw tightened, his chest heaving as he exhaled through his nose.
“Wyatt,
“Gabriel began, his voice edged with fury, “you can’t just walk into my office without permission. I have somewhere important to be, and I don’t have time to waste. So whatever brought you here, say it quickly and leave p>
Wyatt smirked, tilting his head slightly, as though amused by Gabriel’s temper. “I sent over a contract that needs your signature,” his tone was calm. “I thought that was the purpose of your board meeting–to discuss all pending contracts. But no, you cancelled it and moved it to next week p>
Each of his words were meant to provoke Gabriel. But he didn’t respond. He simply looked at his brother with warning.
Wyatt’s smirk faded. He sighed and took a gentler tone. “All I need is for you to sign the contract, Gabriel. Then I’ll be gone. That’s all p>
Gabriel stepped away from him without replying and walked back to his desk. He picked up his phone, spoke briefly in a low tone that even Isla couldn’t make out, and hung up. His movements were calm but heavy with irritation.
He slipped into his suit jacket and buttoned it neatly, then turned to his brother. “I’ll review the contract
tomorrow when I return to the office,” he said without a care. “Right now, my wife and I have somewhere to be. So, if you’ll excuse me p>

He reached for Isla’s hand and started walking toward the door.
But Wyatt’s voice echoed across the room, making Isla flinch p>
“No one leaves this office until I get that contract signed p>
Gabriel stopped. Slowly, he turned, his face looked more pissed.
“Excuse me?” His tone was dangerously calm. “You think just because you’re my elder brother, you can order me around like one of your assistants? Watch it, Wyatt. Don’t push it p>

Wyatt’s lips curved into a bitter smile. “You think I enjoy doing this?” he said. Then, suddenly, he changed the subject–his tone sounded more accusing now, “Have you even seen Mother today p>
Gabriel’s fingers tightened around Isla’s hand. He was seconds away from walking out, but that question stopped him again.
“I’ll see her when it’s convenient for me,” he replied evenly.
Wyatt let out a short, disbelieving laugh. “Convenient?” His voice dripped with sarcasm. “You and your wife are the reason she’s sick! And you stand here talking about convenience? Wow, Gabriel. Just… wow p>
Isla’s breath caught in her throat. She could feel Gabriel’s body tense beside her. His hand was still holding hers, but his entire frame was rigid–like a man trying very hard not to explode.
Wyatt stepped closer, his eyes more focused. “I always knew you didn’t care about her as much as you pretend to,” he spat. “But at least, put on an act for the family’s sake. Do away with this
His gaze flickered toward Isla, and it was cold, as if she was something beneath him.
Gabriel’s eyes narrowed, warning him not to finish that sentence. But before Wyatt could say another word, the door burst open.
Two security men stepped inside, dressed in black and looking ready for anything.
Gabriel didn’t waste another second. He turned to Isla, and his voice was gentle. “I’m sorry for all this, love. Let’s go p>
Without glancing back at his brother, he walked out of the office, his arm protectively around his wife’s waist. Isla followed silently, her heart still pounding from the confrontation.
Wyatt stood frozen for a moment, staring after them. His chest rose and fell with heavy breaths. Then anger flooded his face. His fists clenched at his sides, and his voice came out with so much fire.
“How dare he…” he muttered under his breath. “How dare that arrogant fool treat me like this p>
He could feel the heat of humiliation burning through him. His own brother–the youngest of them all–just dismissed him in front of others like some stranger. He wouldn’t forget this insult. No, not this time.
He turned abruptly when one of the security men, a tall, broad man named Stone, spoke politely to him. “It’s time for you to leave, sir. I need to lock up the office p>
Wyatt’s head snapped toward him. His pride flared instantly.
“Are you sending me out of my office?” he barked. “This is my family’s company! You, Stone–you know that! How dare a lowlife like you talk to me that way-
Before he could finish his sentence, Stone gave a silent nod to the other guard beside him.
Everything happened in an instant. The second man stepped forward, gripped Wyatt firmly by the arms, and pushed him backward out of the office. Wyatt’s voice echoed down the hallway in protest.
“Do you know who I am? You can’t p>

The heavy office door slammed shut behind him, cutting him off mid–sentence.
Without wasting more time. Stone locked up the office and walked away, leaving Wyatt standing there as if he
didn’t exist.
