The man opened his mouth, he wanted to say something, but no words came out. He saw the fire in Gabriel’s eyes, the kind of authority that dared no one to cross him. Gabriel’s presence alone was intimidating.
Isla stood frozen. Her lips parted to speak. But she decided against it. Betsy’s eyes flicked between them, and we’re wide with
shock, her glass still in her hand.
“Sweetheart,” Gabriel said softly. “We’re leaving now. ” His gaze locked with Isla’s.
Sweetheart? Since when? Isla’s mind raced. Her heart skipped a beat, not out of love, but out of disbelief. He had never called
her that before. What game was he playing now?
Still, she decided to play along. She didn’t want to embarrass him in public, not in front of his business partners, not in front of strangers who might know them. They were the Wyndhams, after all. A scandal here would spread like wildfire.
“Okay… fine, ” Isla murmured. She turned to Betsy and forced a small smile. “Babes, we’ll meet on Monday p>
Before Betsy could respond, Gabriel’s arm curled tightly around Isla’s waist. It was possessive. Almost suffocating. Together, they walked away, while his grip never loosening.
When they reached Gabriel’s private corner, the three gentlemen he had been meeting with still sat with their mouths widely
open, staring at the scene as though they just witnessed something unreal.
Gabriel wasn’t bothered. He faced them briefly, his tone was firm. “Gentlemen, let’s finalise this meeting on Monday. I need to take my wife home p>
No introductions. No explanations. Just like that. He didn’t even try to mask the jealousy burning in him. To him, Isla wasn’t
just his wife–she was his possession, and he made sure everyone in that room knew it.
As they stepped out of the club, Isla finally exhaled a long breath. The cool night air touched her skin as she turned to
Gabriel. “Gabriel, what are you doing- ”
But her question never left her lips completely. He silenced her with a sudden, deep kiss. His mouth crashed against hers, his tongue pushing in with a force that left her stunned. And his hand held the back of her head firmly.
Isla’s knees weakened instantly, her legs wobbling beneath her. Her heart drummed in rhythm, it was too fast. His strong arm steadied her, holding her close. She wasn’t expecting this–this hunger, this passion, not from him.
What had come over him?
She didn’t know that just moments earlier, Gabriel had already spotted two paparazzi lingering outside. He knew what they wanted. He knew what they would sell. So, he acted quickly, and gave them a story to tell. A kiss that looked like love, a kiss that painted a love story. Better to give them what they came for before they wrote their own.n

When he finally pulled away, Isla was breathless. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her lips tingling from the heat of his kiss. Gabriel smiled down at her. He was so calm, and it looked like he had planned it all along.
His hands reached up, tucking loose strands of her blonde hair gently behind her ears. His hands trailed down slowly, straightening her dress as if it was nothing more than a casual act of care. But the way his fingers brushed her skin, it left Isla speechless.
“Now,” he said softly, his lips curving into a seductive smile. “Come, my love. Let’s go home and finish this p>
His words made Isla’s chest warm, even though her mind screamed not to fall for it.
Just then, Thomas drove out from the parking lot and stopped right in front of them. Gabriel opened the backdoor, steadying Isla by the waist as he helped her inside. He immediately joined her in the backseat, closing the door behind them
The car rolled forward, and silence filled the space, just like always

Isla scoffed under her breath and shook her head, turning away to the window. She knew it was too good to be true. For a moment, she had almost fallen for his act.
The driver rolled up the partition, giving them privacy.

Then came Gabriel’s voice, with so much control. “What were you doing in that club p>
Isla ignored him and didn’t answer.
His eyes narrowed. “Isla, don’t tempt me tonight. I just asked you a question. What were you doing in that club alone? And why-” his gaze slid down her body, sharp and piercing- “why are you dressed like this? ”
His tone grew harder, colder. Isla flinched. She hadn’t expected him to sound this way. He never cared before. So why now?
She lifted her chin. “Well, I wasn’t alone. I was there with Betsy. You saw her. And what is wrong with my dressing p>
Her eyes roamed over her body, to her tight dress, and her bare legs. She shrugged. To her, nothing was wrong. But when her gaze shifted back to him, she caught his dark eyes, narrowed, and focused. He wasn’t looking at her face. He was staring down at her thighs, bare and tempting.
She saw the corner of his lips twitching. Maybe it was anger? Or something else.
A slow smirk curved Isla’s lips. Something dangerous came to her mind. An idea.
Before he could say another word, she shifted quickly. In one daring move, she straddled him.
Gabriel stiffened, he was clearly caught off guard. His body tensed beneath her as his eyes widened. He hadn’t expected this. Not from her.
Her hands slid up, tangling into his dark brown silky hair. She ruffled it gently, her nails brushing his scalp, pulling a low sound from his throat. Her hips moved, grinding against the hard bulge already straining beneath his pants.
Her breath was warm against his ear as she whispered, “Let me please you tonight, husband. ”
