She was fuming.

Her rosy pheromones trembled with anger. She had seen his wife, Audrey, who was just an ordinary merchant’s daughter with a plain appearance at best, barely passable as pretty. How could she compare to herself?
With her looks, which noble wouldn’t want to take her back to their pack?
Even her superiors, upon seeing her, would forget their mates. Their pheromones would become a messy blob, their eyes staring hungrily, desire barely concealed.

Unaware that Lorelei was targeting him, Leon wasn’t astute enough to realize it. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have remained a mere government construction department clerk.
Back at the pack, everyone was waiting for him to have dinner.
He handed the Mexican tacos to the omegas, asking them to hurry up and serve them while hot.
Christine teased him, “Back so late buying tacos? You’re so focused on Audrey now, Luna Cynthia has been neglected and is waiting for you on an empty stomach.”
Leon quickly apologized and couldn’t help but complain, “I could have been back earlier, but Jose was so slow. Then Lorelei cut in, claiming she was starving and asking me to let her and her omega go first. That’s why it got so late.”
“Lorelei?” Christine’s interest was piqued.
Leon usually didn’t interact much with women. Why had Lorelei suddenly come up?
She probed further, “Who’s Lorelei?”
“She runs a coffee shop. She delivered coffee to my boss’s banquet. He introduced us. I’ve also had my omega buy coffee from her. Those were the ones I brought back a few days ago.”
Audrey said, “The coffee’s decent. I’ve tried it, but it’s a bit pricey.”
Born into a merchant family, Audrey was attentive to the value of goods but didn’t focus much on other
aspects .
Christine asked for the coffee shop’s location, noted it down, and said, “Let’s eat. Luna Cynthia must be hungry.”
Due to Gloria’s incident, Luna Cynthia had fallen ill and was only just recovering. She couldn’t handle greasy food, making Mexican tacos a suitable choice.
After the tacos were served, she ate more than half and remarked, “These tacos are really delicious . If

there’s any left, we can have them for breakfast tomorrow.”
“They won’t be as good tomorrow, Luna Cynthia. If we can’t finish them, let the omegas have the leftovers someone suggested.
Audrey said, “Tomorrow, I’ll get up early and cook you some oatmeal.”
“Alright,” agreed Luna Cynthia.
Cynthia seemed a bit distracted. She put down her utensils, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and said, “ You all continue eating. I’m going back to my room.”
“Take your time, Luna Cynthia,” everyone chorused.
Everyone stood to see her off.
Cynthia’s spirits had been low lately. Only after she was escorted out did everyone sit back down to eat.
Christine glanced at Leon but said nothing, continuing her meal.
After dinner, Christine called their beta and asked if he knew the coffee shop.
Their beta replied, “I know the coffee shop, but I’m not sure who the owner is. It’s said that the new shop manager is the boss’s daughter.”
“Strange. They know it’s the boss’s daughter but not the boss’s identity. Who used to run the coffee shop?”
“There was a manager who wasn’t the owner, just someone managing the shop for the boss. That manager isn’t there anymore.”
Christine asked, “Can we find out who the boss is ?
The beta said, “I’ll try, but I might not be able to. Lorelei’s Coffee Shop has never had the owner show up. It’s always been managed by a manager. I suspect the owner behind Lorelei’s Coffee Shop is someone powerful.”
Christine was aware of such situations.
Royal regulations prohibited officials from engaging in business, allowing only property rental.
However, during the former Lycan King’s era, as noble influence grew and cohesion strengthened, the royal restrictions on business eased slightly, though not blatantly.
If nobles wanted to run businesses, they had to entrust omega confidants to manage them and hire managers to oversee the shops,

Of course , owning property was permitted, such as buying shops for rent or acquiring estates for farming, which weren’t restricted.
Lycan Erasmus turned a blind eye to these matters, unwilling to easily touch the nobles‘ interests , as his own foundation wasn’t yet solid.
