Meanwhile, Lance had infiltrated Madison’s mansion but hadn’t yet reached the basement dungeon.
The basement dungeon had four entrances.
The craftsmen who built it had all been silenced, but Caldwell found the son of the construction supervisor.

Brick walls divided it into four sections–east, south, west, and north.

The east and south sections weren’t for detention but served as large storage basements.

The four sections were completely isolated from one another.
Lance wasn’t sure if Cassius’s family was in the west or north section.
He decided to check the west section first, as the two were close.
Madison’s mansion was extravagantly decorated, with ample lighting that likely cost a fortune in electricity.
However, Lance’s agility gave him an edge.
Coupled with the mansion’s numerous buildings and trees, concealment was relatively easy.
The west section wasn’t accessed from the west courtyard but from the east courtyard–a design meant to deceive, though rather poorly executed.
Such a flawed design persisted only because Madison’s ambitions had gone undetected, and her mansion’s vastness made locating the dungeon entrance difficult.
The mansion’s many courtyards and villas, along with its picturesque gardens, disguised the presence of the basement dungeon..
Who would suspect that the entrance to the west section lay behind a rockery in the east courtyard?
After the wolf warrior patrol passed, Lance easily slipped into the basement dungeon.
It was dug very deep. He walked along the wall for a while before hearing a child’s cry.

Lance knew he was in the right place. It hadn’t taken him much effort.
The dungeon was lit by dim lights.
Lance noticed no guards and quickly slipped into an empty cell, concealing himself.
The cells were airtight, with only a small observation window in the iron door.
Once he hid inside, as long as the cell door stayed shut, no one would detect him.

When closing the door, he’d cleverly wrapped wire around the lock, making it appear secured. Unless someone inspected it closely, the ruse wouldn’t be noticed.
The child’s crying came from the third cell to the left.
Lance didn’t approach too closely. Upon entering, he’d overheard voices and deduced that prisoners were held nearby.
He guessed they might be breeders Madison had imprisoned or females who had erred…
These individuals could either harbor intense hatred for Madison or have become numb and compliant.
If they noticed an intruder, some might seize the chance to ingratiate themselves for freedom, likely causing a commotion.
Thus, Lance chose a cell farther from the occupied ones.
Pressing his ear to the wall, he heard soothing words from the left, “Don’t be afraid, children. Mom and Dad are here. Believe that our family must have noticed we’re gone. They’ll report to the authorities or seek Luna Adelaide’s help. Alpha Lance is with her. They’ll rescue us. Stay strong.”
This was likely Cassius’s voice.
Despite reassuring the others, his voice trembled.
Unaware of the unpredictable woman behind their capture, Cassius couldn’t fathom who he might have offended. The woman’s words confused him; this didn’t seem like retaliation for a personal slight.
His mind raced as he tried to recall any enemies he might have made.
Yet the woman’s statements were bizarre, suggesting his capture wasn’t due to personal vendettas.
Lance had just hidden when footsteps approached from the left.
He pressed himself against the wall peering through the observation window to see who it was.
The footsteps halted outside Cassius’s cell. A voice said impatiently, “Stop your crying. You’re disturbing others. Once you’re in here , accept your fate. The only way out is lying down.”
It was Hunt.
Cassius pleaded, “Sir , where are we? Why have you imprisoned my family? I don’t know how I’ve wronged you. I apologize here, but my mate and children are innocent. Spare them. Take out your grievances on me. I’ll bear whatever consequences there are.”
