Third Person’s POV
Hunt continued to respond with silence. He knew he couldn’t outwit Madison, and his thoughts were no secret to her. All he could do was put in a word for the Spectrehowl Pack now and then; beyond that, he was powerless .
“How about Wilorina? Has Leon taken any interest in her?” Madison asked.
Hunt rested his hands on his knees, his brow slightly furrowed. “They’ve met twice–as planned, once at the birthday party and once at the jewelry store. But Leon barely glanced at her.”
“How could that be? Didn’t she change her appearance? Surely he didn’t recognize her as Willow?” Madison had confidence in Wilorina’s beauty.
Leon wasn’t much of a catch, married to a merchant’s daughter.
Though he wasn’t old or faded, he’d lost the charm of youth.
“She shouldn’t be recognized. With her new identity and some alterations to her looks, she’s more beautiful and innocent than she was as Willow. Plus, her new persona as a coffee merchant’s daughter, skilled in brewing coffee, has won praises from Leon’s superior. One would think Leon would value someone highly recommended by his boss. But he just nodded at Wilorina and left.”
“Was he with his mate then?”
“No, he was buying jewelry for his mate, accompanied only by a servant.”
Madison frowned. “Perhaps the girl hasn’t learned her lesson and refuses to charm Leon?”
“No, no, she’s being compliant. I assure you of that,” Hunt said hastily.
Madison’s face flushed with anger. “Tell her to’step it up. Within half a month, she must get involved with Leon and ideally become his breeder in the Ironclaw Pack.”
“I’ll pass the message on,” Hunt said.
Keeping his hands on his knees, he asked, “Anything else? If not, I’ll take my leave.”
“Bed me tonight!” Madison said indifferently.
Hunt cast his eyes down, suppressing the disgust in them. “Yes, I understand.”
Madison waved him off, pretending not to see his revulsion.
The more he loathed it, the more she wanted him to remember that the Spectrehowl Pack would always be her vassal.
After Hunt left, Madison summoned Rosa. “When Hunt comes tonight, light the incense early . And ensure he takes the contraceptive before entering the room.”
“ As you wish,” Rosa replied.

Madison closed her eyes, her expression shifting restlessly.
Rosa hesitated before speaking. “You’ve always disliked being intimate with Hunt. Why push yourself so hard? ”
Madison remained silent, then sighed softly. “I was just reminded of someone.”
“Hunt is Hunt, and that person is someone else. You’re never happy after being with Hunt,” Rosa said.
As Madison’s nanny, Rosa held a special place in the mansion and could speak freely on certain matters.
Madison opened her eyes, a hint of mockery in them. “Are you suggesting I take a lover to amuse myself?”
“I didn’t mean that. I’m just concerned for you,” Rosa said, shaking her head.
“You and Hunt detest each other, barely tolerating a glance, yet you’re forced into intimacy. It’s truly a injustice for you,” she sighed.
Madison sat up a little straighter. “Do you think I can still bear children?”
Rosa was taken aback. “But you said you never wanted more after giving birth to your daughter.”
Madison spoke softly. “That was true before. But if Germain succeeds, who will inherit the estate? Wanda has no children either. Should it all go to Winslow in the end?”
“Then why have Hunt take contraceptives?” Rosa asked, puzzled.
Madison propped her head with her hand and sneered. “How could I bear his child? If I were to have a son to inherit, appearances must not link him to the Spectrehowl Pack, and in reality, the connection must be severed completely. Of course, Hunt knows this, the Spectrehowl Pack knows this, and in time, my son will too.”
“Do you truly intend to take a lover?” Rosa asked, surprised.
For years, Madison had lived without emotional or physical intimacy. Why the sudden change of heart?
“Have you heard of Cassius Davidson?” Madison asked.
Rosa felt a weight drop in her chest. “No. The Davidson family hasn’t had many in government. Is Cassius a rising star there?”
“Not exactly. He’s just been following his father in business and returned to the capital this year. I’ve met
him once.”
“What’s his relation to Alpha Bentley?” Rosa asked cautiously.
Madison nonchalantly twirled her palm. “Technically, he’s Alpha Bentley’s cousin, from the same great- grandfather. Alpha Bentley only has Cedric as an heir, no others. Cassius is twenty – seven, the youngest of Alpha Bentley’s generation.”
“Do you fancy him? What’s so special about him?”
Madison snorted. “Special? Nothing special .”
