Chapter 439
Half an hour ago, Tammie was still posting selfies on Instagram, boasting about attending the most exclusive arts gala in town.
If he got thrown out now, everyone would know in a heartbeat.
How was he supposed to hold his head up in front of his friends after that?
No way.
Absolutely not!
Ann was just as desperate. She’d promised her friends she’d get C’s autograph tonight.
Once again, Ann forced a bright smile and turned to Caitlin. “Freya, Freya, I’m your big sister! Can’t you talk to Mr. Shepherd and let us stay?”
Caitlin’s face remained perfectly calm; she didn’t even glance Ann’s way.
By now, Forest had already called security.
The commotion drew more and more attention. As soon as security entered the ballroom, all eyes turned to Tammie and Ann. Tammie’s face reddened with embarrassment. He quickly grabbed Ann’s arm. “Let’s go, Ann. Now.”
Ann was clearly reluctant, but she had no choice except to follow Tammie out of the ballroom.
Leaving on their own was still far better than being manhandled by security in front of everyone.
The gala tonight was crawling with high-profile guests, so dozens of reporters were waiting outside.
They’d been camped out for over two hours.
They’d seen plenty of people go in, but no one had come out-until now.
The moment Tammie and Ann appeared, a swarm of journalists surrounded them.
“Mr. Gonzales, why are you and your companion leaving the event so early? Can you tell us what happened?”
“We saw on your Instagram story that you mentioned C is your idol. Did C actually attend the gala tonight?”
“Did you catch a glimpse of C? Is she really as young as everyone says?”
The reporters had waited all night for a shot of the elusive C, but so far, they’d come up empty.
Their pointed questions stung.
Tammie, clinging to Ann’s arm, looked pale and shaken but forced himself to stay composed. After a moment, he faced the cameras and said, m leaving early because had a sudden stomach cramp geed to get to the hospital. Please, could you let us through?”
He’d just been humiliated in the ballroom, and his face was ghostly white-he truly looked like someone who’d just come down with something serious.
The reporters, eager for a scoop but not heartless, stepped aside as soon as they heard Tammie was feeling unwell.
After all, Tammie was a world-famous graphic novelist.
He hurried Ann into the car, and even once they were both inside, his face was still ashen.
Ann didn’t look any better. She let
out a lon
sigh. “I can’t believe Freya
is actually C. Tammie, from the way she looked at us don’t think she fl ever forgive us
“C? So what if she’s C?” Tammie’s anger flared at the memory of Caitlin refusing to acknowledge him as ter brother. “People like her think they’re untouchable, but everyone falls from grace sooner or later.” Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on
So what if she’s C? Just a chess prodigy, nothing more!
Aside from that, what else does Caitlin have to show for herself?
He’d actually considered giving her another chance, forgiving her for the past, but
after what happened tonight, he’d never forgive Caitlin-ever.
Within minutes, Twitter exploded with a trending topic:

All the comments underneath were full of sympathy for Tammie.
