Chapter 1138

lan’s voice was glacial. “From now on, don’t answer any of her calls p>

“Understood.” Gavin ended the call and continued with his report.

Vanessa stared at the disconnected call, her heart sinking to the abyss. Was lan completely refusing to see her? Tears of humiliation welled in her eyes, but her face was a mask of defiance. She took a deep breath and dialed Walden Wells’s number. He was her last hope.

“Walden, are you busy?” Vanessa’s voice was choked with emotion.

“What’s wrong, Vanessa? Did someone upset you?” Walden Wells’s voice sounded sympathetic on the other end.

“No one upset me. It’s just that my father’s company is in a bit of trouble. Could you possibly-help my dad p>

“Yeaton Holdings?” Walden Wells was clearly aware of the situation.

“Yes, my dad’s company stock is having some problems. Could you p>

Walden Wells cut her off. “Vanessa, it’s not that I don’t want to help you. But given the shape Yeaton Holdings is in right now, anyone who gets involved is going to get burned Walden, if you’d just inject some capital p>

He interrupted her again. “Vanessa, I’ve looked into your father’s company. How about this? I’ll give him a piece of advice: file for bankruptcy sooner rather than later. He’ll end up with less debt p>

Vanessa’s heart turned to ice. She managed a bitter laugh. “Walden, won’t you help, even for my sake p>

There was a few seconds of silence before Walden Wells’s tone suddenly turned cold. “Vanessa, I, Walden Wells, am never short of women, especially not women who can play the piano. Do you understand p>

The words hit Vanessa like a slap across the face. She finally understood that in Walden Wells’s eyes, she was nothing more than a plaything.

“Don’t worry, Vanessa. After your family goes bankrupt, I’ll take care of you,” Walden Wells added as a flimsy consolation.

Vanessa heard the click of the phone hanging up. She gasped for air, her entire body stiff.

Compared to lan’s openly brutal approach, Walden Wells was more like a cunning, cold-blooded snake – even less trustworthy.

The crisis at Yeaton Holdings was like the sky falling for the Yeaton family.

Mrs. Yeaton was frantically calling everyone she knew for help. Faye

Yeaton sat in the living room, still

unable to process the news. Hermet

father’s net worth of nearly thirty billion had evaporated overnight and she hadn’t even had a chance to enjoy it.

Her status as the heiress of Yeaton Holdings was about to become a joke.

How could this happen? Faye almost forgot she had an old classmate, Horace, who was a vice president at her father’s company.

She called Horace, wanting to understand the situation.

“Faye, I’ve been exhausted lately. If you want to know what’s going on, come over to my place. I’ll explain everything in detail,” Horace said.

Faye was desperate to know about her father’s company. Without a second thought, she said, “Okay, I’ll be right over p>

When Faye arrived at Horace’s apartment, she rushed in and asked anxiously, “Horace, how is my dad’s company? Can it be saved p>

Horace calmly got her a glass of water. “Don’t rush. Have some water first, and then I’ll tell you everything p>

Faye took the glass and drank. She was thirsty from rushing over, but she failed to notice the fleeting smile in Horace’s eyes.

“Do you want me to tell you the truth? Your dad’s company-” Horace sat down and began to talk.

“What is going on with my dad’s company p>

“From what I know, someone is behind the scenes, targeting your dad’s company. I’m not sure who it is. You should ask your dad if he’s offended someone p>

Faye was even more confused. “How would I know? Weren’t you promoted to vice president? You should know! Tell me p>

Horace looked at her tone and

couldn’t help but smile. Faye haet

alwayspoken to him like this, as if He were her dog to be ordered

around at will.

In the past, he had willingly been her dog. Now, Horace felt that Faye wasn’t so high

and mighty anymore.

“Faye, do you remember when I got expelled from university for you?” Horace suddenly brought up the past.
