Chapter 770 BROTHER’S KEEPER
AIDEN’S POV
Aiden watched as Ruby hurried off.
Silly little girl.
Thought that she could get away with messing with him.
He now had her under his palm and he could do as he wished.
He had discovered from one of the Betas he had left to always follow Bale around discreetly what had happened.
He still needed to find the fully circumstances of how the woman had died.
The Beta himself had been clueless.
He didn’t trust this Ruby girl.
And with good reason.
She had healed a dead bird and denied it and now she was fraternizing with his brother.
Putting him in harms way so much that an old woman had been found dead.
She was going to be his pet and do as he instructed.
He snapped at one of the guards. “You will inform the pack keeper of Ruby’s new role as my hand maiden. She in turn will assign her to all her tasks.”
“Yes sir.” The guard bowed.
Aiden waved his hand off.
Today had been a bit of a success.
They had dug down through the mines further and found traces of moonstone.
Just the dust.
They were closer now.
He could feel it in his bones.
He would bring the moonlight pack back to its glory.
He turned away to his study and began working out new maps and co ordinates on how to go about digging.
He was invested in his work when his doors were flung open.
It was Bale.
“Of all the things you could do.” Bale spat.
“Good evening to you too.” Aiden said dipping quill unto his paper.
Bale walked to the table but Aiden ignored him.
“What do you want?” Aiden asked. “It it’s attention I’m busy go find something to play with.”
And Aiden resumed his work.
Bale then pushed away all the papers and ink off the table.
“What the fuck?!” Aiden snapped standing up to prevent ink spilling on him.
“How could you do this to me?!” Bale spat.
Aiden rose a brow. “Do what? You’re the one who is storming in here with a stupid attitude.”
“How could you take Ruby for yourself!” Bale spat.
Ah.
So that was what this was all about.
Aiden chuckled.
“Take Ruby for myself?” Aiden repeated mid chuckle.
But Bale was not finding it funny.
“Yes! How could you!” Bale banged his fists on the table. “You always have all the girls you could want back home and even here. The one person that even wants to be friends with me you are hell bent on taking her for yourself!”
Aiden shook his head. “If you think that I’m interested in that girl then you have gone mad.”
Aiden sat back down on his seat.
“Then why go through the trouble of making her your hand maiden?” Bale pressed on. “You seemed to dislike her the past few days. And all of a sudden you’re making her your hand maiden. You just don’t want me to have anything for myself! You’re just jealous!”
This was where Aiden could no longer hold it.
He burst out laughing.
He laughed so hard tears appeared at the corners of his eyes.
“Jealous? Me?!” Aiden laughed. “This is too rich.”
“Then leave her alone! You’re a wife’s bastard who only sues she wolves for his selfish pleasures and dump them after!” Bale spat. “I’m wanting you to leave her alone!”
“If I were you I would be careful with my words.” Aiden said the amusement disappearing from his voice.
“There is nothing that you can do or say to me.” Bale snapped.
“Oh really?! Especially when you killed an old woman?” Aiden asked smartly.
Bale’s mouth dropped open.
“Just as I thought.” Aiden said picking up his papers back and setting on the table. “I have you and that girl caught red handed after leaving a she wolf dead.”
Aiden saw the fear slowly appear in Bale’s face.
“I have no fucking idea what you were doing there or how that woman died or whether that girl led you there but I wouldn’t ask for the details.”
He saw Bale moved back in fear.
“I have to be the one to clean up your mess.” Aiden hissed.
“I only wanted to-
“I said spare me the details!” Aiden snapped cutting Bale short. “What I would ask is that you better mark your distance from that girl. She will
Put you in trouble.”
“She had nothing to do with this. It was all me.” Bale said taking the blame.
Aiden shook his head.
“I blame you having zero women in your life. You’ve become a fool for this one.” Aiden said sympathetically.
“Ruby is nothing like other women.” Bale raised his voice and then toned it down. “You don’t even know her. She is different.”
Aiden chuckled at his brother’s stupidity.
“She is different alright.” Aiden admitted.
She was different in the sense that she was the most stupid and foolish of all women he had ever met.
“You will be going back home. Your travel party is on their way.” Aiden announced.
“What???!!!” Bale mouthed in disbelief. “I’m not going home.”
“YOU ARE GOING HOME BOY!” Aiden barked as he rose to his feet and the color of his eyes changed to accustom the presences of his wolf.
Bale flinched in fear.
“You will not question or undermine my authority again.” Aiden stated. “I’ve let you off the hook for too long you have lost your head. My business with the girl is none of your concern. What you will do is wait and sit tight until the travel party finally comes to get you. You will return home and go back to your daily life and I will not tell your parents what you have done. If mother and father know about any of the things you have been up to here. I don’t think I need to explain what would happen.”
Aiden went back to the papers on his desk.
“Now Get out.”
Bale hung around the room for a few seconds before storming out and slamming the door so hard Aiden felt his table shake.
