Chapter 776 TO THE MINES
I snatched it back. “I told you it’s a family heirloom. So are you taking it or not?”
He collected it back from me and continued examining it.
“Your parents can barely afford clothes how do they have such in their possession. This is emerald. Real emerald. Emerald is one of the most difficult jewels to find these days.” He pointed out.
“And I told you it’s my family heirloom.” I snapped back.
He flipped the emerald over and fingered it. “Doesn’t it look broken to you? And I can swear the engravings on it. It looks familiar. But then again it looks like some other part is missing so it’s hard to say.”
“No. It isn’t.” I snatched it again right out of his hand. “It’s a family heirloom just like I said end of the matter. We might not have as much money as you do nor might we own a pack like you do but that doesn’t mean we don’t have anything of value.”
He eyed me closely.
I tucked the emerald in between my breasts far away from his view.
“So are you taking it? Yes or no?” I asked him my hands on my waist.
I watched as the eyes of his wolf lowered down and his normal eyes came around.
He turned away. “No. You are going to do as I say.
I stomped my feet. “Let me go! What do you want from me?!”
“I want you.” He stated.
That had me stop right in my tracks.
I simply blinked.
My heart was racing.
Racing so fast it felt as though it was going to skip right out of my chest in any moment.
I felt my face get flushed.
“I want to know how you healed that dead bird.” He pointed at me.
And then I crashed back to reality.
What the hell was wrong with me?
Why was he making me feel this way.
I felt so foolish at how red and flushed I was.
“Why are you red?” He asked me.
I touched my cheeks. “It’s the weather. What does it matter to you?!”
I wanted to bite his finger off.
“You’re delusional.” I said shaking my head and heading out.
He caught my arm and whirled me back.
“Now look here you twat!” He snapped his finger almost in my eye while his other hand firmly gripped my arm. “I’ve told you what to do and you will listen. You must think that the wolves you owed money were worse than me. How wrong you are. I have killed. I have done imaginable things that would make you stay up all night! Don’t get it twisted.”
I looked at him without breaking contact.
I snatched my arm away from him.
“This is the last time I’ll have this conversation. Do the fuck what I ask you to.” He warned.
I pouted at him.
“Now get your things you’re following me to the mines.” He ordered
I wanted nothing more than to stab his eye out.
“You’re not making me go anywhere!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I mumbled in annoyance and anger as we went on the journey to the mines.
A whole three hours.
What was this?
And it was so hot.
I was on my horse as I followed the party while Aiden led ahead.
I pouted as we dragged on.
What did he need me for this trip anyways.
What did I even know?
Did he perhaps expect me to go digging for him?
If he did, he was going to be in for a big shock. I could feel the eyes of the male wolves on me.
I’m sure they were wondering what I was doing here.
Almost all the men traveling with us had made passes at me and I had turned them all down.
And now here I was with Aiden.
They probably all thought I was sleeping with him.
Thought I cared about him or wanted the status.
As if!
I clicked my tongue as I brooded over the environment.
Aiden turned back to look at me from his horse.
I glared at him but he didn’t seem threatened in the least.
I turned my face away.
After a few minutes we finally arrived.
It was nothing spectacular.
Just a weird cave in the middle of nowhere.
There was no sign of life around.
No plants, no trees, no birds or butterflies or even any sign of wild life.
The place was desolate and deserted except for the amount of workers going to and fro with pix axes and shovels.
The energy felt so off, I felt a shiver down my spine.
The men came down from their horses.
Someone offered to assist me but I got down on my own.
I wasn’t a damsel in distress.
I set my hands on my waist as I walks to the edge of the cave.
There had been rumors about what they had been looking for in the cave.
But nothing to be specific.
The men went about and I huddled off to a side of the cave that provided shelter to hide from the sun.
I felt the valley in between my breasts itch and then I pulled out my pendant.
I frowned and examined it.
He was right.
It actually did in fact look like it was missing a part.
I trailed my finger along the edge of the emerald.
It seemed like a piece of it had chipped off.
I had always assumed perhaps it was the design.
I frowned.
Aiden was right about something.
How could our family have such expensive jewel as a family heirloom.
My mind went to the dress in a box I had found in our home.
It felt like a hollow feeling.
Like I didn’t know something.
“Hey!” Aiden snapped his fingers at me bringing me back to reality.
“Sweet goddess. Don’t scare me like that!” I snapped at him as I pushed my hair back.
He caught my arm and pulled me. “We’re going into the mines.”
