Chapter 1046
[ 631 words ]
Mona’s words landed with a harshness that made Tristan’s face darken. He shot her a warning glare—after all, Yvonne was a Quinn, and there were limits to how much he could say. After what happened three years ago, Tristan wouldn’t dare cross the Quinn family again.
“Serves you right if you starve,” Yvonne snapped.
“You-!” Mona sputtered.
Yale jumped in, piling on, “Yvonne, people should stick to what they’re good at. You can’t even manage breakfast, and you fought so hard to take control last night!”
Yvonne gave a cold, biting laugh.
Standing beside her, Xander was visibly fuming. Mona and Yale’s act was all too transparent—they’d obviously plotted this ambush together, just waiting for a moment to put Yvonne on the spot. And judging from the expression on Tristan’s face, he didn’t just allow it—he planned it too. He was always up early; if he’d really wanted breakfast, he could’ve asked the butler. Instead, he’d just waited for Yvonne to appear, setting up this whole farce.
Xander stared Tristan down, his gaze as sharp as a blade. “Seems you’re still bitter about last night.”
“Xander, we’re not upset!” Mona retorted, her tone rising in defense. “She wanted to manage things, right? I even got all the account books together for her! And she can’t even handle breakfast?” Her voice was shrill and insistent. After Berry called asking for money last night, Mona didn’t care whether Yvonne was a Quinn or not- she only wanted to seize back control of the household finances and pull out some cash. Berry needed money, and these funds couldn’t be cut off at a time like this.
Tristan didn’t say a word, letting Mona-a woman who wasn’t even a legal member of the family-lord it over everyone.
Xander’s fists tightened. He didn’t waste another word. Instead, he strode straight downstairs, his long strides slicing through the air with restless energy as he made for the kitchen.
Moments later, the entire house rang with the sounds of chaos-pots and pans clattering, dishes smashing, utensils hitting the floor over and over, loud enough to rattle the walls. It sounded like a hurricane had torn through the kitchen, leaving nothing but carnage behind.
Tristan’s face turned pale with anger. “That damn brat! Somebody stop him! Get him out of there, now!” Was this a son, or a curse sent to destroy him?
Mona stood shocked in the foyer, never expecting Xander would actually trash the kitchen.
After ten minutes of uproar, Xander reappeared, expression cold. Mona rushed in to survey the damage-her blood pressure spiked on the spot.
“Ah-!” she shrieked.
The kitchen was completely destroyed. Everything smashed. There was not a thing left untouched by Xander’s wrath.
He turned to Tristan, gaze unyielding. “If this kitchen is just a battleground for you to scheme against my wife, then you don’t need it at all.”
Tristan nearly collapsed from the shock.
Just then, Yvonne came downstairs. “Come on, sweetheart. Let’s go eat at my family’s place.”
Mona was left dumbfounded. They’d
laid waste to the kitchen, only to flounce off to dine at the Quinn
estate as if nothing had happened?
Was the Yvonne’s idea of managing this
the house?
Mona was practically trembling with fury, and Tristan wasn’t far behind. Yale ground his teeth. “If you can’t even run the household, then give back everything you took from us last night!”
What good was being in charge if you couldn’t even handle breakfast?
“No way,” Yvonne said coolly. “Once something’s in my hands, there’s no way I’m
giving it back.” Her bluntness bordered on arrogance.
“Don’t you dare push it too far!” Yale snapped.
“Let’s go, darling,” Yvonne said, ignoring him as hunger began to catch up to her.
Xander took her hand in his, all
traces of his earlier fury gone. Now
he looked at her with nothing but
warm affection. The sudden shift
between cold
menace and devoted husband was enough to spike
everyone’s blood pressure all over
again.
