Chapter 1154
[ 478 words ]
“What?” Mona snapped. “What do you mean you’re not allowed to leave?”
“I can’t leave Novaderma, and I can’t go to Yoreland,” Berry sobbed.
Mona went silent. Hearing Berry’s pathetic whimpers, it only took a second for the truth to click.
It was Yvonne. Yvonne had intentionally dug into her interactions with Berry, sparking Tristan’s suspicions. And now, she had purposely trapped Berry in Novaderma, giving Tristan all the time he needed to tear their secrets apart.
Yvonne Quinn was a terrifyingly calculating woman.
Mona’s chest tightened.
“Mom, I want to come home,” Berry cried. “I want to go back to Ferrowland, but I can’t. They won’t let me.”
She broke down into heavy sobs. She had tried to buy a ticket to Ferrowland that very morning, but they had blocked that, too. She was completely trapped.
“Of course you can’t come back,” Mona said coldly. “Yvonne did this. She did it on purpose.”
At the mention of Yvonne, Berry felt like she couldn’t breathe. “Why would she do that?”
“Because she wasn’t going to let anyone ruin Stella and Ronald’s wedding,” Mona replied. “She knows about you. She probably even knows you had surgery to look like Stella.”
In that moment, a chilling clarity washed over Mona. Yvonne likely knew everything. She knew it all, yet she hadn’t exposed them directly. Why? Was she just toying with them? Trying to watch Mona squirm?
That had to be it. Thinking back on the sheer agony of the past few weeks, Mona was certain Yvonne had them entirely figured out.
“Yvonne?” Berry spat, her jealousy flaring again. “Why is she being so nice to Stella? Is she out of her mind? Doesn’t she realize that having an outsider in the family just means she has to share her inheritance? Why is she taking her side?”
Berry couldn’t comprehend Yvonne’s logic. She thought the woman was an absolute idiot.
Mona’s chest heaved. Remembering
how Tristan hadn’t even spoken a single word to her that morning, a sickening knot twisted in her stomach. Things were spiralm completely out of her control.
…
Stella’s wedding was magnificent.
The dazzling crystal decorations made the entire venue look like a glittering, ethereal dreamscape.
“Star’s dress is absolutely gorgeous,” Susanna murmured, practically drooling with envy.
They had all seen beautiful wedding
before, but this one was on
another level stunning and utfer
unique.
“I think her sister designed and made it herself,” Tegan noted.
Susanna’s envy deepened. “How did a family that merely adopted her end up loving her this deeply?”
It was true. The entire Quinn family loved Stella to her very core.
Tegan’s eyes were full of longing. Even biological parents rarely loved their children this fiercely, yet the Quinn’s treasured Stella like she was. the center of their universe
“Because Star is so lovable,” Susanna beamed.
Tegan fell silent.
“Hey, speaking of which,” Susanna pivoted seamlessly, “when are you and Dr.
Yoder getting married?”
Tegan froze.
A few feet away, Finley Yoder also froze.
Hearing Susanna’s blunt, unprompted question, both of them instinctively tensed up.
