Tegan forced a small smile. “That’s alright. I’m used to it by now.”

Ever since her father passed away, she had slowly learned to navigate the coldness of the world, accepting her isolation piece by piece. By now, the bitterness of life was just a familiar taste.

But seeing Lottie hold Stella with such gentle affection sparked more than just envy. Looking at Lottie’s face, she felt a strange, comforting familiarity. It made her sigh inwardly. She had almost forgotten what her own mother’s embrace felt like.

“I’m still sharing half with you,” Susanna insisted, her heart aching even more at Tegan’s quiet resignation.

Mona Haig received another call from Berry.

“Mom, what am I going to do? I’m so upset. My heart is breaking,” Berry sobbed helplessly through the receiver.

The mere thought of Ronald marrying Stella today was tearing her apart. She had been secretly in love with him for years! And now, he was actually tying the knot with Stella.

What gave Stella the right? Why was the universe so obsessed with her? She was just the Quinn family’s adopted daughter. They had already given her an amazing life—why did she get to marry Ronald, too? It was completely unfair.

“Mom…” Berry wailed in agony.

Mona’s head throbbed. “Where are you right now?” she hissed, keeping her voice low.

She didn’t have the patience for Berry’s tragic love life. Yvonne’s threats on the phone the previous night had kept her tossing and turning until dawn, leaving her in a foul, irritable mood.

“I-I’m in Novaderma,” Berry stammered.

“You’re still there?!” Mona exploded. “Didn’t I tell you to get out of Novaderma and lay low in Yoreland? Why haven’t you left yet?”

Mona was absolutely losing her mind. Why the hell was she still in Novaderma? Was she practically begging Tristan’s men to catch her red-handed?

Mona’s last shred of composure snapped. She was furious. It was bad enough that Yale Schultz refused to listen to her, but now Berry was

refusedulling the same stup

What were they trying to do? Drag them all down together?

She thought of Yale’s reckless lifestyle over the years. If he had just followed her instructions, the entire Schultz empire would be his by now. But he didn’t care about the company, and no matter how hard she tried to prop him up, he just kept sinking, leaving her in an incredibly vulnerable position within the family.

And she was vulnerable enough as it was. If Tristan actually uncovered her connection to Berry, she wouldn’t just be marginalized in the Schultz family—she would be utterly destroyed.

Berry whimpered at the shouting. “I… I don’t have any money.”

No money? How was she supposed to get to Yoreland without money?

“Are you telling me you don’t even have enough for a plane ticket?” Mona felt like she was going crazy.

She had poured a fortune into this

cost? They had spent millions sculpting her face to look exactly like Stellas. And that wasnt even counting the lavish spoiled lifestyle Berry had been living in Novaderma. She had given her so much cash, and now Berry was crying poverty?

“I-I do have money! But when I went to the airport today, they told me I wasn’t

allowed to leave Novaderma.”
