Chapter 282 Internet’s Favorite Husband
“Did I miss anything important?”
Hannah nearly jumped out of her skin at the deep voice behind her.
She spun around to find Alpha Dominic in a perfectly tailored charcoal suit, looking like he’d stepped off the cover of Forbes.
Hannah jumped to her feet, instinctively showing respect even as her brain caught up. “Alpha Dominic! You scared the hell out of— I mean, I wasn’t expecting you.”
She gestured helplessly at her laptop. “Shouldn’t you be running the country or something?”
Alpha Dominic shrugged like it was obvious. “This is about keeping my pregnant wife and unborn child healthy. Where else would I be?”
Hannah wanted to roll her eyes so hard they’d fall out of her head.
Here we go again with the Perfect Husband routine.
When she’d convinced Elara to do this show, she’d never imagined half of America would be shipping them as relationship goals.
“She’s in there,” Hannah muttered, stepping aside. “Try not to break the internet.”
The moment Alpha Dominic stepped into the room, the atmosphere shifted.
The nutritionist faltered mid-sentence, her eyes widening as she recognized him.
Even the production crew seemed to hold their breath.
Elara looked up from her notes, wondering why everyone suddenly seemed so tense.
“Please, continue,” Alpha Dominic said smoothly to the instructor. “Don’t let me interrupt.”
Elara’s head snapped toward the familiar voice, her eyes widening as she spotted him making his way over.
Rachel and Jessica immediately straightened in their seats, while Susan’s fake smile became even more strained.
The nutritionist nodded quickly and tried to pick up where she’d left off, though her voice was noticeably more nervous.
Elara watched in amazement as her husband settled into the chair beside her like this was completely normal.
“Taking the SATs, sweetheart?”
Elara startled so hard she nearly launched her pen across the room. Once her heart rate returned to normal, she shot him an apologetic look and mouthed “sorry” to the instructor.
Rachel practically melted. “Oh my God, Elara, he came to class with you? I can’t even get my husband to remember my due date, let alone show up to something like this.”
Susan’s grip on her pen was turning her knuckles white. The fake smile was getting harder to maintain by the minute. How much more of this PDA could one person stomach?
Alpha Dominic nodded politely at the other women, then smoothly plucked the notebook from Elara’s hands. “I’ve got this. You just focus on listening.”
The chat absolutely lost its collective mind.
[OMG STOP. Taking NOTES for her?? Sir, this is too much!!!]
[My ovaries just exploded. RIP me.]
[throws phone I can’t with these two anymore]
Elara laughed softly. “I’m not made of glass, you know.”
“I know,” he murmured, already writing. “I just like taking care of you.”
For the rest of the session, they were perfectly synchronized—Elara listening intently while Alpha Dominic captured every detail in his precise handwriting. They looked like something out of a romance novel.
When the class wrapped up, Alpha Dominic cornered the nutritionist with thoughtful questions and asked for copies of all the materials.
When the session officially ended, the nutritionist thanked everyone for coming. The production crew started wrapping up their equipment while the four women gathered their things.
“This was really helpful,” Rachel said, tucking her notes into her medical bag. “Thanks for hosting, Elara.”
“My pleasure,” Elara replied warmly. She glanced at Susan, who was already heading for the door without a word.
Jessica lingered a moment longer. “Seriously though, your husband showing up like that? Goals. Total goals.”
Elara blushed slightly. “He worries too much.”
“Girl, don’t apologize for having a man who cares,” Jessica said.
After Elara said her goodbyes, Alpha Dominic wrapped his arm around her waist and walked her to the elevator.
Susan kept smiling until the doors closed, but anger was boiling inside her.
Once they were gone,Jessica sighed heavily. “I can’t watch this anymore. If I keep seeing them together, I’ll go home and get mad at my husband for nothing.”
Her husband worked at another law firm and traveled constantly for cases in Chicago and meetings in D.C.
Most days they only talked through video calls and text messages.
She really liked what Elara and Alpha Dominic had together, but she wasn’t jealous about it. She knew her husband worked hard to build their future.
Rachel agreed completely. Her situation was similar. David worked crazy hours at the hospital while she handled her own surgeries.
But Susan was different. Her husband seemed loving and caring on the outside. That made watching Elara’s perfect relationship so much worse.
“I’m leaving,” Susan said coldly. She grabbed her expensive purse harder than needed.
After she stormed out, Jessica and Rachel shared that look married women know too well. Nothing killed joy faster than playing the comparison game.
