Chapter 1135
[ 760 words ]
Yvonne possessed zero tolerance for Skye’s ridiculous behavior.
“If I were you, I’d hold off on the bragging,” Yvonne mocked. “She gave you a single slice of cake, and you’re already losing your mind over how sweet she is.”
Star had saved plenty of things for her over the years, but she never bragged about it the way Skye was doing now.
“I am giddy! And I’m going to brag!” Skye retorted. “You used to show off Star all the time, so why can’t I? Hmph!”
It was true that Yvonne used to flaunt her bond with Stella. Whenever Stella did the slightest nice thing for her, Yvonne would be over the moon, treating her like the world’s most precious little sister.
And now that Skye believed she had found her own version of that dynamic, she couldn’t resist rubbing it in Yvonne’s face.
But Yvonne effortlessly shot her down. “Is she even your sister-in-law yet? Why are you bragging already?”
“Why wouldn’t she be?” Skye snapped, instantly defensive.
Tegan might not be married to Finley yet, but it was only a matter of time. If Finley dared to mess this up and lose her, Skye was fully prepared to break his legs.
“Are they married? Did your brother even successfully ask her out?” Yvonne challenged. “If I were you, I’d be looking up dating tutorials for Finley right now so he can memorize them. Don’t let a great catch slip away just because he’s an idiot.”
“Hey! Watch your mouth, Yvonne! Do you just hate seeing me happy?”
Skye absolutely despised the idea of Finley ‘losing’ Tegan. If her brother ruined this, she was going to skin him alive.
“I’m saying this because I want you to be happy,” Yvonne replied lazily. “I’m just reminding you that your brother’s emotional intelligence is practically non-existent.” Skye couldn’t argue with that.
As much as she hated to admit it, Finley was a brilliant doctor, but utterly hopeless at everything else. And after his recent handling of Stella’s medical situation, Skye was starting to suspect he might be a terrible doctor, too.
“Go find some tutorials,” Yvonne ordered.
“You just wait!” Skye practically growled. “When my brother marries Tegan, I’m going to rub it right in your face!”
With that, Skye aggressively hung up.
Yvonne scoffed, tossing her phone on the table. “Rub it in my face? Please. Star is already about to give birth.”
Xander watched her, utterly baffled by this bizarre, competitive sisterhood. He also couldn’t fully comprehend Yvonne’s deep obsession with Stella.
When Stella went missing in Portis City, Ronald had been unhinged, but Yvonne had been even worse. She was so desperate to find Stella that she even teamed up with her bitter rival, Skye, and let Skye con her out of several prized treasures in the process.
Meanwhile, Mona Haig’s life was rapidly descending into hell.
After Yvonne and Xander left, Tristan gave a direct order to his men right in front of
Mona. “Find out who this Berry really is.”
He was going to uncover exactly
what connection Berry had to his wife. Over the last two years, Mona had made countless trips to Novaderma, and her secret
meetings made it clear this wasn’t
just a casual relationship.
Mona watched him give the order right in front of her. “You actually believe Yvonne’s
people?” Her tone carried a mix of betrayal and suppressed fury.
Yale quickly jumped in. “Dad, how can you trust them? That guy was obviously planted by Yvonne. Whatever he said was completely scripted to ruin us!”
“This family is already in enough chaos. Could you please stop falling for Yvonne’s traps?” Yale pleaded. “She came back specifically to tear this house apart!”
Yale was furious, his chest tight with anger just thinking about the absolute chaos the house had been plunged into over the past few days.
But Tristan had no energy left for their excuses. He didn’t even want to look at Mona anymore. Ignoring their protests, he turned and marched upstairs in disgust.
Yale stared at his father’s retreating back. “Mom, what is he thinking? Has he completely taken Xander’s side?”
Mona was already seething. Hearing Yale complain about losing to Xander pushed her over the edge.
“He handed the family’s authority over to Yvonne! Of course he’s on Xander’s side!” she shrieked.
Mona spun on her heel and stormed away.
“You infuriate me! I told you to focus on the company, but you never listened. Now look where we are! Xander took everything!”
In the past Mona hadn’t been too harsh on Yale’s incompetence. But now, with crisis after crisis hitting them and Yate proving utterly useless in defending their territory, Mona’s patience had shattered.
Yale flinched, completely stunned by the venom in her voice.
