If he hadn’t chased after her and threatened her to take the child away, she
wouldn’t have been homeless after giving birth.
The doctor gave her an IV drip, but she was still unconscious.
Brian sat in front of the bed and held her hand. He said softly, “I’m sorry.”
His cell phone rang. He picked it up.
“Mr. Brian, Joy is asking where you are. She wants to find you,” said Jaclyn.
“I’m in the hospital. Grace has a fever. Wait at home for a while. I’ll send someone to pick you up immediately.”
Ever since Austin’s accident, he had been extra careful and firmly refused to let Austin take a taxi.
After he hung up, Grace slowly woke up.
She opened her eyes and took a long time to see that she was in the hospital.
She frowned in discomfort. “My head hurts…”
She wanted to raise her hand to rub her temples but couldn’t exert any strength. As soon as she raised her hand, it fell.
Brian looked at her with a dark gaze. “You deserve it.”
Grace looked at him and closed her eyes again. “Since I deserve it, why are you still standing here?”
“Looks like your mouth doesn’t feel uncomfortable at all. You can even talk back,” Brian said coldly.
He sat down on the side of the bed and placed his hand on her temple, rubbing it gently. “Are you feeling better?”
Grace said “Yes” lazily.
After Grace’s headache subsided, Brian began to settle scores. “I called you yesterday. Why didn’t you answer?”
Grace thought about the situation last night. She frowned and said, “There were too many people last night. I didn’t have time to reply to your message.”
“That’s the reason?”
Grace looked at him matter-of-factly.
“Will it take long for you to reply to me?” Brian questioned her relentlessly.
Grace rolled her eyes impatiently. “Why are you acting like a woman?”
“Grace!” Brian gritted his teeth in anger.
Grace didn’t say anything. Her throat hurt so much that every word she said felt like torture.
Brian stared at her for a long time. Suddenly, he said weakly, “Do you not care about my feelings that much?”
His voice was a little sad. Grace couldn’t help but look at him.
Brian smiled self-deprecatingly. He suddenly remembered that she had never called him when he went out to socialize in the past few months.
‘This was because she didn’t care ifl would get drunk outside. She didn’t care if my business partners would give me women,’ Brian thought disappointedly.
God knew how much he envied other people when their girlfriends and wives called to check on them.
To him, such a thing was a luxury.
Grace looked at his sudden desolation and her heart skipped a beat.
Neither of them spoke again until Austin arrived at the ward.
Austin’s small face was filled with anxiety. As soon as she entered the ward, she pounced on Grace’s bed.
Her heart ached as she looked at the
back of Grace’s hand, which was
being infused with an IV drip. She carefully held her hand as tears welled up in her eyes.
Grace’s heart ached. “What’s wrong? My baby.” “Mom, are you too tired from taking care of me?”
Grace looked at her round little face and aggrieved eyes. Her heart ached as she said, “No, I accidentally f
into the water yesterday and caught a cold.”
Austin lowered her head and looked at the needle on the back of her hand. “Does
it hurt? Mommy.”
Grace subconsciously wanted to say that it didn’t hurt. But she paused and said,
“It hurts. What should I do?”
She thought that Austin would blow on her hand lovingly.
