Chapter 140
“ I got her dad . ” Nate nodded and let go of my hand . He looked very worried . They were all worried about me .
“ Breath , Angel , ” Blake whispered into my ear . His embrace had already started to calm me down .
I took a deep breath in and nodded , letting Blake guide my way .
Soon we were standing next to the coffins sitting on straps ready to be lowered into the graves .
A sad ambiance loomed as we all stood around the graves . Theresa’s sobering as well as hushed whispers gently caressed my ears . I blocked out everyone and stared at the two coffins before me .
It was time to say goodbye , and I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore . Treacherous tears slide down my cheeks , and before I knew it , I was sobbing .
Ma was a horrible mother . She lied to me , she cursed at me , she tortured me , she hated me , and she abandoned me . My heart was filled with pain and hatred for her . Nevertheless , she was my mother . She did care for me in her own ways . The best thing she did for me was sending me to Mariners Bay . If it weren’t . for that decision , I wouldn’t have met Taylor and Rocky . I wouldn’t have met Blake .
The priest said his final words , and the coffin lowering device groaned , slowing lowering the coffins into the graves .
Blake’s arms around me tightened , and Theresa’s sobs got louder . I glanced over to her . Rocky was holding his mother tightly . Rogue tears slid down Rocky’s cheek . He quickly wiped them away , and he clenched his jaws . He had a dark pair of sunglasses on to hide the pain his eyes shone .
One of the church helpers walked around handing out roses for people to throw onto the coffins before saying their last goodbyes . Once the lowering device stopped , people slowly walked over to the grave and paid their final respects .
From the corner of my foggy , wet eyes , I noticed the Callum family walking towards me .
“ We are very sorry for your loss , Rosy . ” Mrs. Callum looked down at her fingers .
“ Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you ” Mr. Callum rubbed his wife’s arm . He , too , tried to avoid eye contact .
“ Now you want to help me ? Now you care ? Why ? Because I’m suddenly prominent enough in society for you to acknowledge you know me ? Knowing Blake Cooper’s fiancé must earn you so many brownie points , huh ? ” I was angry . I hadn’t forgotten what they had done and today wasn’t the day to mess with me .
“ Rosy ….. ” Mr. Callum began before Blake put his hand up to stop him .
“ Mr. Callum , thank you very much for coming today . We appreciate you being part of our hard times . However , please know I say this in the most respectful way possible , I think it’s time your family and you leave . It’s a painful day for my fiancé , and your son being here is just adding to her suffering . ”
Mr. Callum cleared his throat and nodded before motioning for his wife in the direction of the carpark . Chris gave me a tight smile before following his parents . Vince , on the other hand , stood rooted to his spot with a smirk on his face .
Come on , Vince . Not today . Please . Give Rosy a break today . ” Blake groaned .
“ Fine . Although I thought she’d like to hear what I have to say , ” Vince snickered .
“ Spit it out , asshole . What do you have to say that’s so important ? ” I just wanted him gone .
“ I know what happened to your mother and her boyfriend . That important enough for you ? ” Vince adjusted his jacket and looked between Blake and me .
I felt the air leave my lungs and dry out my chest .
“ What ?! ” Growled Blake . He took a step towards Vince .
“ You don’t scare me , dipshit . So don’t ever try to intimate me . I have information you need , and you know what I want . Once you’ve dealt with all this , come find me , and we can talk . ” Vince stuffed his hands into his pockets and rolled his eyes .
“ Listen here , asshole ! ”
“ Blake ! Let him go ” another voice came from behind us .
Max quickly walked over and grabbed his brother’s shoulder , trying to pull him away from Vince .
“ Not today Blake . Not here . It’s neither the time nor the place . ”
Rocky was now standing next to me with his hand on my arm , ready to pull me away in case a fight broke out .
