I couldn’t breathe . Tears formed in the corner of my eyes as I stared at the man in front of me . The man I’d been asking her about for the last 28 years was finally standing before me . All the thoughts I had about him . All the times I had wished I could meet him . 28 years ….
“ You’re Rosalie . You … you are my daughter ? ” He smiled at me and laughed a little . Tears form in his eyes too . He reached out to touch me but I took a step back . I felt my anxiety rising . He knew . He knew I existed . My heart skipped a beat and it hurt like hell .
“ I …. you … how long have you known about me ? ” I asked him . Tears now flowing down
my
cheeks .
“ Since the day you were born ” his reply hit me straight in the heart .
28 years this man has known he has a daughter and not once has he made the effort to get in touch .
I took another step back . My legs were a little wobbly .
“ Rosalie , you’re being rude again . At least say hi to him before you start interrogating him ” mum said from the comfort of her bed . She was sipping on the hot liquid Richard had brought her .
“ You lied to me ! You fucking lied to me ! How could you , ma ?! Why not just tell me who he was ?! I kept asking you , I kept wanting to know him and you kept saying you didn’t know ! Why ma , why ?! ” I wasn’t holding back my tears . They were just free – flowing .
“ Rosalie , listen to me . My life , it’s very complicated . I didn’t want you to get tangled up in it . There are rules I have to follow and even if I did tell you . you wouldn’t have believed me anyway . ” Richard took a step forward and I took one back .
I wanted to stay away from him .
I felt two hands on my shoulders . Blake gently squeezed my shoulders and kissed my head .
“ You both lied to me . You both betrayed me ! I don’t want a justification from you now . 28 years ! I’ve waited 28 years only to be told you’ve known about me all this time . You never made even the slightest effort to contact me . Where were you when I needed a father ? Where were you when mums clients use to torture me ? Where were you when I was getting abused ? Where were you when I was struggling with life ? Where the fuck were you ?? ” I was crying hard and my voice was cracking .
“ Rosalie , you don’t understand . It’s not that simple . I wanted to be there for you , I wanted to tell you . I just couldn’t kiddo . It’s too dangerous ”
“ You need to tell her . She deserves to know and if you don’t tell her , I will ” Blake finally spoke . He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me to his chest .
Tell me what ? What did Blake know that I didn’t ?! Was he also lying to me !?
“ Please don’t . She doesn’t need to know ” Richard begged Blake .
“ Actually , yes she does . She’s been trying to figure out how she fits into my life and here you two are , with all the answers she needs . Fucking tell her or I swear , the next phone I make will be to the council elders ?
Richard’s expression changed . He was shocked and it was written all over his face .
“ Blake , what the hell are you talking about ?! ” I wriggled and tried to free myself from Blake’s hold . Tears still streaming down my cheeks .
“ You’ve told her ? She knows what you are ? ” Richard asked .
Blake nodded and I heard mum gasp .
“ You’re one of them ? ” She exclaimed .
“ Will someone please tell me what you’re talking about ? ” I yelled , squirming in Blake’s arms .
They all looked at each other , trying to figure out who was going to tell me .
