After Eric left, one of his colleagues nudged him and grinned.
“I guess we’re all pulling overtime tonight.”
Sam looked down at the pile of evidence in his hands, fire rekindling in his
eyes .
Strangely enough, he thought, maybe it was a good thing Irene was still unconscious.
If she woke up and found out what Eric had just dropped on them, she might die from pure rage.
Outside the police station.
Eric climbed into the car and rubbed his forehead.
Daniel sighed quietly. “Mr. Eric, maybe you should cancel the meeting with the board and go see your wife first ? ”
Eric dropped his hand and leaned back in the seat. “Head to the office.”

Daniel could only nod, a trace of sympathy flashing in his eyes.

But the Nolan family guards were standing outside–and they weren’t letting him in.
Still, because of who he was, one of them went in to notify her.
In truth, Irene had never been unconscious.
Just like the last time at the old mansion–she was faking it.
Beside her, Cheryl served tea cautiously.
“Mom, that country girl’s just too much to handle. Maybe it’s time we admit defeat.”
Irene slapped the teacup away before Cheryl could finish speaking.
Cheryl instantly clammed up, terrified.
Matt spoke next. “Mom, your official seal was stolen. What else can we even do at this point?”

Then Josh chimed in, “And don’t forget, I was thrown into detention. Eric didn’t lift a finger to help.”
That comment only made Irene angrier.
Josh had been arrested for embezzling funds from the fashion division.

That whole branch of the family had completely broken her heart.
Just then, a bodyguard returned to report about Scott waiting outside.
“Hmph. I used to think sending Alice to jail wouldn’t affect Eric Nolan much,” she muttered.
She was so furious that she didn’t even address him casually anymore–just spat out “Eric Nolan” like venom. The warmth and affection were long gone.

it seems like the Spencers don’t all hate her.”
Cheryl’s eyes flickered with an idea.,
“Mom, didn’t the third Spencer brother used to race with her? Maybe that’s why he’s here. Maybe he’s just helping out an old racing buddy”
Josh, who was always out partying, perked up–finally something he understood.
