Alice’s main task today was slacking off.
After all , the IT department had just landed a huge bonus for their latest success.

“Word is she only came because Mr. Matt and Mr. Josh are in prison, and she’s run out of options. They say she’s hoping Mr. Nolan will show some mercy.”
Alice snorted.

Matt and Josh had been cautious to begin with. There were no fatalities involved.
Otherwise, they’d be rotting in prison for life.
Seeing that Alice wasn’t interested in that topic, Janice added,
“Ms. Spencer, do you remember that guy, Troy?”
Alice answered, “Of course. What about him?”
After he left, he joined one of our competitor companies. He’s now a director at Genesis Tech.”
Alice nodded. “Get to the point.”
Janice immediately continued.
“A foreign expert just arrived. His name is Jaxon–no idea what his last name is .
“This expert’s research focus is robotics and drone technology.
“Nolan Group’s also involved in that research area,
“Ms. Randall is currently in contact with him.”
In reality, Troy hadn’t been doing well after he left .

Ruby was the one who helped him get his job at Genesis Tech.
“Jaxon?”
Alice rolled the name around in her mind.
It sounded familiar.
But she couldn’t quite place it.

Janice had come specifically to report this, so she had the materials ready.
That’s when Alice finally recalled.
Jaxon was a codename.
Back when she was overseas, her drone company had been hemorrhaging money.

Alice’s voice came from inside.

“She’s even launched an investigation into Risa.
“And now she’s even pulled some strings to get Risa’s work suspended.
Alice remained calm. “What’s that got to do with me?”
Daniel froze.
Isn’t Risa your best friend ?
If your best friend’s career took a hit , shouldn’t you be doing something to help ?
“Mrs. Nolan, you’re not going to help her?”
Alice pressed the “Start” button, launching a new round of solitaire.
“Daniel, Risa and I operate in different fields. If she thought I could help, she’d have come to me already.”
