Chapter 1160
[ 589 words ]
Yvonne stared at him, speechless.
“I forgot you. Because I forgot, I did so many things to hurt you. What am I supposed to do now?”
“Especially now that I’ve lost you. What am I supposed to do? Tell me, what do I do?”
“Yvonne, I don’t know how to survive this anymore.”
His frantic, repetitive pleas broke into raw, unadulterated agony by the end.
He had truly lost her.
Feeling the child growing inside her, a child belonging to another man, he was completely and utterly lost.
It hurt. It hurt so intensely.
The torment tearing through his chest felt like a jagged blade twisting into his heart, making it impossible to breathe.
“Even now, I’m still not sure if I’ve remembered everything completely.”
“Is there still something missing? What did those memories mean to me? I forgot so much, and as it all comes rushing back, I just feel more helpless and desperate.” Over the past few days, a flood of memories had returned to him.
With every new fragment, his heart ached even more.
The sheer volume of what he had remembered this week alone was pure agony.
He couldn’t accept that she was with Xander.
And he definitely couldn’t accept that they were having a baby together.
“Yvonne.”
She didn’t respond.
“Please tell me. What am I supposed to do?”
His sorrowful voice was saturated with pain and sheer desperation.
It was the very first time since their reunion that she had heard such devastating heartbreak in his tone.
The despair was practically tearing him apart at the seams.
And she finally understood.
When he faked his death, the drugs he had taken must have severely compromised his memory.
He had remembered her eventually, but not the entirety of their history together.
But now, he remembered everything.
Yet, what was the point now?
Yvonne narrowed her eyes slightly. “The only thing left to do is let it go.”
Dan’s breath caught sharply in his throat.
He looked up at her, only to be met with an icy, merciless glare devoid of any warmth.
“Yvonne,” he choked out.
Yvonne.
It was the affectionate name he used to call her.
When they had first reunited, he had called her by her full name, a cold, distant address.
Perhaps back then, just as he said, his memories truly had been fractured.
But regardless.
“From the moment you faked your
death you couldn’t have actually et
expected
me to just stand around waiting for you, right?”

The words broke whatever remaining shreds of hope and pain he clung to.
And she had delivered the blow with brutal sarcasm.
Faked his death.
She was reminding him exactly how he had chosen to walk out of her life.
After such a monumental betrayal, how could he possibly expect her to remain blindly loyal?
No matter his reasons for leaving the way he did.
He should have known that if he
made
and
emself a dead man in hermet
she would eventually move on a new life
Dan’s face drained of all color.
He parted his lips to argue, but
underthe
weight of her frosty stare, not a single word made it past throat.
She looked so remarkably clear-headed and absolute.
His agonizing sorrow hadn’t swayed her in the slightest.
His breathing grew erratic. “Yvonne, you.”
Yvonne forcefully ripped her hand out from beneath his grasp.
She yanked a tissue from the console and wiped her skin clean. “Dan, if I were you, I’d stay dead forever.”
“Be a convincing corpse. Change your name. Erase the man named Dan Murray from the face of the earth completely.”
If he had chosen that path to leave, he needed to walk it all the way to the end.
“But back then, I—”
“It doesn’t matter what happened back then. What matters is that you chose to be dead in my world.”
Dan fell completely silent.
