Chapter 582
582:
“I just got a call, but I don’t recognize the number,” she said, puzzled.
“Maybe it’s a client inquiring about your designs,” Dolores suggested. “With Lawson Group collapsing, any smart client knows CR Corporation is the better choice. I should let you go—take the call. You don’t want to miss a big opportunity because of me.”
Linsey nodded. “Alright. Let’s talk again soon.” She ended the call with Dolores, then stared at the screen for a moment before answering. “Hello—who’s this?”
A smug voice answered, “Jeffery Lawson. Linsey, we need to meet.”
“Jeffery?” Linsey’s voice trembled with confusion. “How did you get my number?”
A smug chuckle drifted through the line. “Who in town wouldn’t have the contact details of the great designer Linsey?”
Linsey’s brows furrowed and her tone went ice-cold. “Mr. Lawson, what do you want from me?”
She had not forgotten his behavior at Carol’s birthday party—how he tried to intimidate her with that five-million-dollar check. Her patience for him had long since run out.
“Linsey, I heard you haven’t been to the office these past few days. Are you avoiding me?” His presumptuous words sparked irritation in her.
“This is ridiculous. Do you seriously not understand why I’ve been on leave?” she snapped, laughing sharply. “Thanks to your dear sister, I’ve sprained both my hand and foot. And if that wasn’t enough, she stomped on my already injured hand, leaving it a bloody mess. I can barely hold a fork, yet here you are, acting as if my absence is some personal slight against you. It’s laughable.”
“Linsey…” Jeffery faltered, momentarily lost for words.
She cut him off. “I’m not your employee, nor am I your family’s servant. Don’t speak to me as if you have any authority over me. You may be the privileged eldest son of the Lawson family, but that doesn’t entitle you to order everyone around.”

Jeffery seethed with anger, and even through the phone, Linsey could sense his barely restrained fury. After a few tense seconds, she said calmly, “If you have nothing else to say, I’ll hang up now.”
“Wait.” His voice cracked with forced restraint.
Linsey arched an eyebrow, curious. For someone as arrogant as Jeffery to call her, he must have something important—or something he wanted. After a pause, his tone grew heavier.
“Linsey, I don’t know what kind of relationship you have with the founder of…”
“CR Corporation, and frankly, I don’t care. I’m calling because I need you to convince him to reverse the decision to cancel our partnership.”
