Chapter 583
583:
Linsey’s eyes narrowed in surprise. She wasn’t shocked that Jeffery wanted to salvage the deal—given Lawson Group’s crisis, losing CR Corporation’s support only made things worse. What genuinely surprised her was that he was asking her for help.
It didn’t take long to figure out why: Jeffery clearly believed she had some connection to CR Corporation’s founder. Linsey nearly laughed at the absurdity. Why did everyone assume she knew him? She had never even met the man.
Still, amusement aside, her response was firm. “And why exactly would I help you?”
Linsey found the situation absurdly amusing. After the Lawson siblings had left her injured and humiliated, they now expected her help? What was Jeffery thinking?
“Your firm just ended our partnership unexpectedly. Are you telling me you’re unaware?” Jeffery’s irritation was clear.
Linsey dismissed his concerns with indifference. “What’s next?”
Jeffery faltered. “Our current crisis wouldn’t have happened if not for you!”
Linsey was barely entertained by his illogical blame. “Mr. Lawson, could you enlighten me how my role as a designer at CR Corporation intersects with Lawson Group’s internal failures? Are you truly trying to shift the blame for your company’s collapse onto me?”
She paused before adding firmly, “That logic is laughable. I suggest you sort out your priorities before engaging in such discussions.”
With that, Linsey hung up, giving Jeffery no chance to respond.
She immediately regretted even answering the call. As someone who valued reason, she found it impossible to communicate with someone as irrational as Jeffery.
At the other end, Jeffery was left speechless. It took him a moment to absorb what had happened—Linsey had actually hung up on him. His cheeks flushed with fury. When he tried to call back, he discovered she had blocked his number. So be it.
In a fit of rage, Jeffery pounded the back of the passenger seat, causing the driver to flinch.

“Mr. Lawson, is everything all right?” the driver asked, concern in his voice.
Recently, Jeffery’s behavior had grown increasingly erratic—a reflection of the turmoil overtaking his company. He dismissed the driver’s question, clenching his teeth in frustration. His plan had been to leverage Linsey to secure a meeting with CR Corporation’s founder, but she had staunchly refused. Not only had she rebuffed him, she’d left him seething with rage. It was an unprecedented humiliation for him.
Jeffery’s gaze shifted to the grand CR Corporation building looming in the distance. Just thirty minutes earlier, he’d been inside that very structure. Yesterday, they had at least allowed him to present his case. Today, however, they’d denied him entry, stating that CR Corporation was severing all contacts with Lawson Group staff. He was at a loss—unable to access CR Corporation, and now with Linsey refusing to help, he wondered if his only recourse was to ask his parents to intervene.
