Chapter 631
631:
It had been a while since Gorman last saw Linsey. All of his lingering resentment dissolved the moment he looked at her.
Right then, he realized he could never truly resent her, nor could he ever let her go. If Linsey’s heart belonged to someone else, he would simply remain quietly by her side. Perhaps, one day, she would recognize his sincerity and return his feelings.
A gentle smile appeared on Gorman’s lips as he replied, “I haven’t left yet… maybe in a few more days.”
The true reason he had come to CR Corporation that day wasn’t something he could admit aloud. In truth, he just couldn’t stop thinking about her—and, by chance, he had discovered her predicament in time to intervene.
Understanding flickered in Linsey’s eyes. As she thought about the danger she had narrowly escaped, a wave of fear washed over her. Had Gorman not appeared, she didn’t dare imagine what might have happened.
Gorman looked at Linsey with concern and spoke gently.
“Do you need a ride back? I’d be worried about you walking alone.”
Linsey lowered her gaze and replied in a quiet voice, “No, I’ll be fine.”
The revelation Carol had shared still left her feeling adrift, unsure of what to do next. Despite her confusion, she clung to some clarity—her old hand injury had worsened, and she knew she needed to get it checked at the hospital. As a designer, her hands were everything; she couldn’t risk permanent damage.
Gorman noticed her distress but wisely chose not to ask more questions or put any pressure on her.
He suggested, his tone still gentle, “At least let me walk you to the hotel exit and make sure you get a taxi safely.”
Faced with his quiet insistence, Linsey couldn’t bring herself to refuse. She nodded, “Alright.”
They exchanged a small smile and made their way toward the elevator, walking side by side. Since their last heated argument, moments like this—peaceful, almost normal—had become rare.

Unable to type, Linsey sent a voice message to her team. “I ran into some trouble earlier, but it’s resolved now. You all go ahead to the salon and get ready. I’ll meet you at the gala tonight.”
She glanced at her phone but saw no messages from Collin.
“Will you be attending your company’s gala tonight?” Gorman asked casually as they walked.
Linsey snapped out of her thoughts and nodded. “Yes, I will.”
Gorman paused, then said, “Isn’t the gala being held at this hotel? Mr. Wade invited me this morning, but I turned down the invitation.”
Linsey was momentarily surprised. She looked up and saw the hotel’s logo on the wall, confirming that the CR Corporation’s annual gala really was being held here. “Yes, it’s here tonight.” She couldn’t help but wonder if Carol had chosen this location deliberately, or if it was simply a strange coincidence.
“The gala is being hosted on the second floor,” Linsey added.
“Are you planning to go straight up there?” Gorman asked.
